The Year of Greenery: Top 14 skincare picks in Pantone's Color of the Year

"Refreshing and revitalizing” – that’s how Pantone describes its color of the year and how we want our skin care to be! Greenery is a bright yellow-green that was chosen to symbolize new beginnings, so it seems only appropriate to find it in our beauty products. The PV team is keen on achieving skin care goals this year so we’ll be upping our game with new picks that draw from the powers of nature or offer a promise of restoration. Besides, just looking at all these tones of green already feels pretty relaxing!

Simple Micellar Cleansing Water (P499 for 200ml at Watsons)

This newcomer from the UK has received awards from Glamour and Allure, boosting it to cult status! It’s a must-have for those with sensitive skin or in the process of healing their skin because of its mild formula, compared to other micellar waters. It also contains vitamin B3 that restores dry skin and vitamin C, an anti-oxidant that helps reduce fine lines and dark spots.

Burt’s Bees Cleansing Towelettes in Cucumber and Sage (P495 for 30 towelettes at Beauty Bar)

Where do we even begin about how awesome this is? It smells amazing, easily removes all our makeup, yet remains very gentle on the skin. This particular variant is supposed to be for sensitive, normal to dry skin types but it should work just as well for others! The packaging is also well-designed and has a double seal to prevent the wipes from drying out.

Clinique Liquid Facial Soap for oily skin (P1,100 for 6.7oz at Clinique)

It’s tempting to go crazy when cleansing oily skin but doing so will actually just make it produce more oil. This gentle cleanser does a great job of restoring balance, improving skin texture, and making skin feel clean without that tight and dry sensation. Sure, it removes dirt and excess oils but it does not strip off the protective layer and leave you vulnerable to dry patches or irritation.

Origins By All Greens (P2,400 for 70ml at Origins counters)

The foaming action makes this mask extra fun to use, but it’s the results that make us come back to it over and over again. As it fluffs up into a cushy, bubbly substance, the kaolin clay and coconut-derived cleansers get to work on your pores and clear out the gunk. Power-boosting ingredients such as spirulina, spinach, and green tea also help the skin detoxify so in you can get cleaner and clearer-looking skin in just 10 minutes.

Missha Green Tea Lip and Eye Makeup Remover (P260 for 90ml at Althea)

We’ve heard a lot of raves about this makeup remover slash skincare solution. They're true! We've found that this works as promised on waterproof makeup, and has anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties because of the mistletoe extract. The green tea extract also helps in keeping skin moisturized and gives off a gentle scent that soothes the senses. The price is pretty easy on the pocket, too!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil (P495 for 10ml at The Body Shop)

This cult favorite will always have a spot in our vanities! Just dab a little bit of this oil on a pesky pimple and it will take care of reducing the inflammation and redness before completely zapping it into oblivion. Tea tree oil is also an antibacterial agent so you can even use this to prevent future breakouts. If you really want to stretch it, you can even use this to combat foot odor, treat sores, help with fungal infections, or simply add a few drops to your bath water while soaking in the tub!

Aura Cacia Restoring Rosehip Oil with Vitamin E (P775 for 30ml at Healthy Options)

Corrects dark spots, reduce scars and fine lines, and moisturize dry and flaky skin with just a few drops of this beauty oil. It’s rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids that make it effective yet it feels super light on the skin and not at all greasy. It’s an HG product for former Victoria’s Secret Angel Miranda Kerr who applies it every night!

Naruko Tea Tree Shine Control & Blemish Clear Night Gelly (P152.10 for 15g at SM Beauty)

This Taiwanese beauty brand is quickly gaining recognition for making products that are free from parabens, artificial flavors, and artificial colors. The gelly feels like a sleeping mask version of the TBS oil that you apply at night and wash off in the morning. We’re still trying this out and hope to do a more comprehensive review soon!

Want an facial that you can easily do at home? This contains alpha and beta hydroxy fruit acids (AHAs and BHAs) that effectively reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation, dark spots, fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture, and acne. We love how this K-beauty brand has a mask for every kind of skin concern, including this one for getting our pores under control! The proteins, vitamins, and fatty acids pamper dry and tired skin while collagen and vitamin A that help with large pores and acne. It also has egg extract to help draw out blackheads!

Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel Mist (P260 for 150ml at Althea)

If you’re a fan of their Aloe Vera Gel, you will surely love this mist version! It offers the same skin-nourishing effect but in a more convenient packaging. Toss the spray bottle into your purse, bring wherever you are, and spritz whenever your skin starts feeling dry and dehydrated. Don’t forget to pat it in after to ensure your skin drinks up all the goodness!

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask (P1,895 for 90ml at The Body Shop)

When you don’t get enough sleep, a good sleeping mask can save your skin from looking that way. This one boasts of babassu oil and hyaluronic acid as its super-charged moisturizing ingredients. Coupled with stem cell technology, the hyaluronic acid helps repair damaged cells while the non-clogging babassu oil reduces redness and nourishes the skin. As the name suggests, it feels like a semi-liquid jelly and is difficult to scoop up with fingers so make sure to use the spatula that comes with the tub!

Body Buddy Real Cucumber Moisture Soothing Gel (P265 for 250ml at Watsons)

Multi-purpose gels make it possible to care for your face, body, and hair with a single product. Even as a skin care product, it can be mixed with your BB cream or foundation for sheer and dewy coverage or used to amp your moisture levels by applying a layer before using a sheet mask. This gel is also good for treating irritated skin because cucumber has vitamin C and caffeic acid to soothe and reduce inflammation.

DKNY Be Delicious (P3,550 for 50ml at Rustans Beauty and SM Beauty)

Clearly not a skin care product but this fragrance just perfectly captures what we feel the Greenery vibe would be. The fruity scent contains strong notes of green apple mixed with cucumber, grapefruit, lily of the valley, magnolia, rose, tuberose, and wood. The scent lasts all day and keeps us smelling fresh and feeling energized!

What do you think of Pantone’s Color of the Year? Do you know of other Greenery-inspired skincare products that we should consider trying out this 2017?
