My top 10 favorite finds last June

I just realized that I did three themed weeks last month! Do check out the Lipstick Week, MAC Week, and Shiseido Week. My plan was just two with a week in between, but I found it easier to have some direction when choosing what to write about. There are so many unreviewed products here that I have stopped trying to figure out which goes first! I'll just go with the theme, or whatever I am liking at the moment, because I want to hold on to my sanity.

If you have suggestions for future themed weeks, I would love to hear them! I actually got the Lipstick Week idea from one of the comments on this blog. ;) Anyway here's my top ten favorite products from June. Let me know if you found anything interesting.

Lipstick fiend that I am, one of my favorite things last month is MAC Rebel. It's an amazing purply fuchsia that I feel works with my coloring perfectly! It's a unique shade that I'll keep close to my heart for years to come.

The NARS Satin Lip Pencils have been making waves in the beauty world ever since they came out early this year. The buttery texture, opacity, and gorgeous shades had everyone swooning over these sophisticated black pencils. My favorite shade is Lodhi, but I would also grab Yu in the near future! Hyde Park, a berry red, is also a great shade to have on hand.

I also liked the new Avon Vitaluscious Lipstick. Some people might be disappointed by the sheer coverage of these lipsticks, but they are terribly moisturizing due to their essential oil content. I think they are closer to lip butters than actual lipstick! Get them if you like moisture over opaque color. There's always the Avon Totally Kissable Lipstick for color maniacs out there (like me, although I sure appreciate a good sheer lippie).

I think I am in love with Real Techniques brushes. No, it's love. I'm sure. I love the smooth synthetic hair and their odd but utterly functional shapes. My latest additions are the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and Blush Brush, and they are part of my makeup routine now. You have to try these if you haven't yet!

The M.A.C Blot Powder has a very specific function: it's for blotting out oil and removing shine. No more no less. That can be rather limiting as other pressed powders can set makeup and give some coverage, but I am alright with a simple blotting powder. It's pretty effective in absorbing oil and preserving my makeup without making it look chalky.

The Smashbox Heat Wave Eye Shadow Palette is easily one of the loveliest palettes I have! I feel that the colors aren't too common, and have you seen their pigmentation and smoothness? This is a nice buy for makeup afficionados who are looking for subtlely different shades.

Did you ever have a product and wonder, how can this possibly be any good? Sometimes it's not about the product - it's about how you use it! It's all in the application technique, sometimes. I realized that the best way to use the Eye of Horus Natural Smoky Eye Pencil in Black is to smudge it and what do you know it looks amazing that way! It stays that way, too. This is a nice liner to use when I want dramatic eyes without bothering with eyeshadows.

I love ultra-groomed and perfect brows but sometimes I simply don't have time for the required details. Days like that I prefer to draw with the Shiseido Natural Eyebrow Pencil in Deep Brown BR602 - it is super easy to apply and blend. I recommend you use a light hand though, as this particular shade is on the darker spectrum.

And here is my HG eyelash curler. :) I find that the Shiseido Eyelash Curler fits my big eyes best due to its wider rim and opening. Bye bye pinching!

The world is deeply divided on FitFlops, but I have made my stand since I slipped on this unassuming pair. True love, that is what I felt. Nothing can separate me from them! Read to know why FitFlops is one of the best things that ever happened to my feet!

So there you go. Share you favorites from last month too!

Thanks Ms Liz, everyday I look forward to reading your blog. This is the time that I appreciate the work that i have because i can do multi tasking. I am listening to calls while reading your blog. I am excited to try the Shiseido Natural Eyebrow Pencil in Deep Brown BR602. Sabog yung kilay ko and when I have it groomed parang super plain cya kaya ngayon may way na to fix it. I wil also try the lipstick, i remember reading you blog about wearing bright colored lipstick.

I am excited how I look. I am pretty sure that it will make me feel better. ;)

RT has great brushes, I wanna have all!:))

i agree.. I absolutely love the eyes of horus eyeliner. It stays on your waterline longer than my urban decay 24/7 eyeliner in zero

July 3, 2013 | Unregistered Commentersheryl

Won't you make a comparison with the brushes you use? Like charm brushes and RT? I'm just curious which brand I should buy. :) And also, between lip pencils and lipsticks, which one do you prefer more?

Pwede ate, document mo yung make up mo for the day, for a whole week! That would be exciting!!! I'd love to see your creativity flourish everyday!! :)

What about eyeliner week? From colorful pencils to dramatic liquid to smokey gels?

July 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterStacie

I am definitely eyeing on the Nars Lodhi, avon lipstick in rose flush and the eyelash curler. I will definitely be buying them in the near future. I also like the smashbox palette, but i think i will invest first on the urban decay naked basics palette. I am just a beginner, that's why. BTW, i also have the real techniques expert face brush and i love love love it as well. =) It leaves no streak on the face, and yun nga, also good for bases which are slightly difficult to spread. It's like a teeny tiny magic wand! I don't have the blush brush pa pero i will buy it soon and the core collection as well. I actually want to but everything from the line, they're super sulit and not that expensive. International youtube gurus swear by these brushes! Yay!

Ms. Liz, you should try their powder brush as well. I have that and i think it's super nice. =) It may replace your good old HG powder brush which you bought from Market!Maret! (which i had my cousin buy for me but she couldn't find it :/ ). I also bought my real techniques brushes from stuffinstyle. God bless! Have a nice day. =))

...and i would love a DUPE WEEK! That would be ohhh-some! :) :)

Share ko na din my fave finds last June. Charm retractable powder brush (i wish i got it sooner, it's such a great multi-tasker), TheBalm Fratboy blush (I am actually waiting for you to have a TheBalm week because i think their products are of good quality but not that expensive. I've read that their highlighter is TheBomb. Hehe), Celeteque BB cream (great shade, great coverage, affordable, brightening) and lastly, Revlon lip butter in Pink Truffle (a flattering glossy MLBB shade). =) Thanks for always sharing yours, Ms. Liz. =)

Awesome picks! I'm super in love with the Eye of Horus pencil. It's the only liner I can use to tightline.

How about an Etude week? Diba recently you received goodies from the Color Pop Collection? I'm so excited about the super orange lippie. And please do an Avon Week too. I have seen so many of their products and I think they all look promising, but I don't want to spend my money on everything then only having a thing or two that's working for me. Avon is quite close to your heart naman diba? Heehee. Anw of all your picks up there, baka yung Avon lang matry ko, not yung Vitaliscious as you said kasi sheer coverage sya, baka yung Totally Kissable nalang for more color. :D Sayang talaga yung Shiseido curler, expenz lang. Huhu.

I ought to try that Shiseido lash curler! Mine was MAC blushes in Peaches and Blushbaby. Both are sheertone so they're so easy to apply, hardly that you'd over-do it in the blush department.

Mine *were

I dont have much eye shadow in my collection so I think I'm going to try Smashbox Heat Wave Eye Shadow Palette one of these days :)

I'd agree with Cha, I think an EH week is a good idea... well I agreed because frankly I'm not so familiar with the brand ;-)

May I suggest a Spend vs. Save Week, for practical people who need advice on which items to splurge on :D I think it will be interesting since you love drugstore products as well as high-end brands :)

July 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterNikki

I tried the Avon vitaluscious because of your post Ms. Liz! It has sheer coverage but it is a perfect everyday lippie for school!
I think "Asian Week" could also be a good theme, wherein you post about asian cosmetics available in the Philippine market. Or since it's the rainy season, "Make-up When Rain Drops" haha just trying to ryhme words :P

July 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterElla

I also love the Avon Vitaluscious lipstick, but, I am quite sad that the NARS satin lip pencil dries my lips. :( I also have the color Lhodi. :)

July 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJuvy

Those are lovely products! I also have the Shiseido eyelash´s the best I´ve tried. I´m currently using an eyebrow pencil from Gosh ( Danish brand) but I´d like to venture into the Shiseido line.

July 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterErian

You have the great haul Ms. Liz, I like taht MAC rebel, lakas- maka-Angel Aquino look.:)
Stay pretty:)

July 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterOhms

I'm really super intimidated by the Eye of Horus eye pencil. The one time I tried it on, I thought it was super dark and scary. From this post I think I'll go and give it another shot, this time using it the proper way with smudging.

July 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterPat

I love the Avon Vitaluscious lipstick! Its silky on the lips and after a day of wearing it I didn't get the dry chapped lips that I usually get from other lippies. Sad to see that they have a small line of color available. I'm using the wine wellness because the color packs a punch and the nude tritous most often kasi complements my morena skin really well. Hope you do a blush week next Ms. Liz! Would really love to find more products to choose from.

I really love that shade of MAC Rebel Lipstick. I agree with the FitFlop it is the most comfortable footwear I ever owned and it really is durable. I am loving all your Top 10 Favorites.

Do a series where you do a FOTD everyday and you're not allowed to repeat a single product! :) With your collection I'm sure that won't be difficult, but it might be interesting! :)

July 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMariana

nice list but i wish you could post ur top list also sa local products :)

July 5, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterAi

RT brushes I will have you soon! We had quite a handful of high end products reviews, how about drugstore makeup week? It will be interesting especially for those who are just starting with makeup on a budget :)

July 5, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterPaui

I agree with Mac Rebel! Can't wait to get my hands on Mac Heaux. I heard it's very similar with Rebel but Matte. Sweet!
