Swatches + First Impressions: The VMV Hypoallergenics Blush Stick

Environment-friendly and proudly Filipino, VMV Hypoallergenics boasts of more than 30 years in the beauty industry. Their products, both skincare and makeup, are rated on their hypoallergenicity and are well-known for their incredible #skinthusiasm. Since Liz previously reviewed and loved both the Skintangible SPF30 and the Fine Finish Pore Minimizing Skin Mattifier, we've got high hopes for their latest release, the Boldly Glow Coconut Oil Skin Bloom Blush Sticks!

The Boldly Glow Coconut Oil Skin Bloom Blush Stick (P2,000) is, like other products from the brand, free from "parabens, preservatives, phthalates, fragrances, and irritating waxes". The creamy blush stick contains 6.5g and is packed with organic virgin coconut oil and antioxidant green tea among other skin-loving ingredients. And believe it or not, four out of the nine released shades are actually dye-free! "Non-comedogenic, non-drying, and non-darkening" are three ways the brand describes their newest product.

And did you see that packaging? Each stick is topped off with a mirror on the cap for on-the-go application while the luxe mother of pearl casing would be a welcome addition to any vanity. These are sustainably sourced shells from here in the Philippines, and they come in three finishes to prevent the over-sourcing of a particular shell. If you're planning on collecting the different finishes, be warned that no shade is assigned a certain shell type. They go with "whatever is available at a given time" so there will always be a surprise factor in every box.

Speaking of packaging, the outer carton is also part of VMV Hypoallergenics’ environmental efforts. They used soy-based ink on recycled paper which is then folded to create the glue-free box.

The nine blush stick shades include a bronzer (Tarte-A-Tan) and a highlighter (Luminous), both of which are dye-free along with Heat and Bellini.

The shade I got to try is Heat, which gives a natural-looking flush on my medium skin tone. It’s kind of like a blush-highlighter hybrid that glides easily on the cheeks. The blush blend out to a sheer finish but is buildable enough so you can customize the level of flush and glow that you want.

I was quite surprised at how long-lasting it is for something so creamy! I can still see the faint hint of color on my cheeks after seven hours of wear. Do note though that I have particularly dry skin these days so that might have helped with the longevity. Overall, the VMV Hypoallergenics Boldly Glow Coconut Oil Skin Bloom Blush Stick toe the perfect line between makeup and skincare while delivering that lovely deposit of color and luminosity. These will be available in-store starting October 15. For more information visit, www.vmvhypoallergenics.ph
