The PV Team reviews Colourpop! Here's what we think of our haul

I’ve been wanting to try Colourpop products since Angeli wrote about her brand must-haves last year, so when they announced a sitewide sale a few months back, I couldn’t resist the opportunity. So, some of the PV girls and I pooled all our orders together for a sizable Colourpop haul! Though we had enough orders to qualify for the free international shipping, Liz generously offered to lend us her My Shipping Box account so the package would be shipped faster and directly to our address instead of the post office.

While some Colourpop items are available on BeautyMNL, the complete selection can only be shopped at the official brand site. I think it was worth the wait though! Here are our reviews of our Colourpop haul.

Stacie: Yellow eyeshadow was the 2019 S/S trend in Japan, and I've been obsessed about being able to try it for myself since seeing all the different looks one can do with it. All I wanted was to own one solid yellow shade - until I saw the Uh-huh Honey Palette ($12)!

It contains five matte shades, three metallic shades, and one pressed glitter. The shades are Stinger (matte butter yellow with a tinge of brown); Sunburst (metallic lemon yellow with blue glitter); Sweet Spot (primary matte yellow); Dandy (metallic yellow gold); Palooza (chunky yellow glitter); Queen B (metallic old gold); Totally Buggin’ (matte butterscotch); Oh Beehave (matte mustard); and Buzz Kill (matte ochre).

It was difficult to get the matte shades to show up on the arm swatches but pigmentation is pretty good when applied to the eyelids and blended with a dense eyeshadow brush. The metallics are gorgeous and easy to apply. I can pat it on with my fingers, blend with a brush, or even use as a lower eye eyeliner with no trouble. But I think the real star of this palette is the dazzling pressed glitter!

I used Stinger, Sunburst, Sweetspot, Dandy, Palooza, Totally Buggin, and Buzz Kill with an eye primer underneath

I also got an eyeshadow single called Island Hopping ($5, white with cool blue glitter chunks) which has the same craft-glitter-in-a-jelly texture as Palooza. The large glitter particles reflect light beautifully but because they're quite large, they don’t apply evenly. It's best to use a finger to gently press the glitter on, as they tend to get stuck in brushes. A word of caution: apply and remove the glitter very carefully to make sure that they don't accidentally get into your eyes! I made this mistake and my eye got a little bit irritated for a few minutes. Strangely, both the palette and the Colourpop website say that pressed glitters are not intended for use near the eye area but their advertising often show examples of how the product can be worn. I reached out to Colourpop via Instagram DM about this but still haven't received a reply.

Gett: I'm on a low-buy this year, but I knew it was time to get a neutral blush when I realized that the two blushes I own either lean too cool or too warm.  After some quick research, I decided to try the Pressed Powder Blush in I Need Space ($7). The color looks flattering on my skin tone, and I couldn't resist the cheeky name!

It looks like a rosy mauve when applied on the cheeks, and has some shimmer. I love the glow that it gives - I don't feel the need to wear a separate highlighter! Wear time is pretty decent at 5 hours on my oily skin, but overall really happy with this purchase!

Marielle: Sol Body, a collection of liquid body highlighters, is Colourpop’s sister brand, along with the Fourth Ray skincare line. I was choosing between this and the Shimmering Dry Oil (composed of sparkle bits suspended in the oil medium), but ultimately decided to get Glow Oil ($15) because the fine shimmer looks more even and less disco ball-like.

I picked Golden, a warm copper-tinged gold that is surprisingly versatile enough to be worn by both fair and morena skin. In addition to gold sparkly bits, it has a slight bronze tint to it that has a subtle self-tanner effect. You can sheer it out to suit your skin tone.

One full pump is enough to cover my whole arm, from the back of the hand to the shoulder, because I’m not really doubling up on the tan tint. The glow oil dries with a serum-oil tackiness, and it has a coconut-floral scent that gives me some tropical-themed air freshener vibes for 10 minutes after application.

As someone who has a love affair with highlighter, glitter, and shimmer, I don’t think the Glow Oil is too hot to handle. The sparkle is fine enough that skin looks healthy and pretty, with just a hint of color. In fact, I would also like to try out the Shimmering Dry Oil next time to see which one is more intense. Gimme some of that Edward Cullen glow!

Angela: I'm currently into the lip gloss craze so I got the So Juicy Plumping Gloss ($7)! Dress Code looks nude on my skin and sheer on my lips. It has a lip plumping effect that lasts even after the gloss has disappeared after a meal. It also gives a mild cooling sensation to my lips. I always get compliments whenever I'm wearing this lip product!

I also got the Super Shock Highlighter in Wisp ($8). This is one of the brand's ultimate best-sellers, and it is absolutely stunning. The shimmer is fine with no obvious glitter. It looks like champagne gold on my morena skin, giving me a glowy, ethereal look!

Den: I really wanted to get the Baby Got Peach Palette but since it was out of stock, I opted to get a Super Shock Shadow in 6am ($6) instead. It turned out to be more orange than peach but I’m smitten by the intense gold duo chrome effect! The colors remind me of goldfish scales, and it looks so pretty even when worn on its own. It’s quite pigmented but in order to build the shimmer and ensure even coverage, it’s best applied by patting on with a finger.

I also picked up a Pressed Powder Cheek in Perk Up ($8), which is also part of the Peach collection. It’s a unique tan-colored blush that makes my skin look lightly sunkissed. I’m not sure if it’s just a function of the shade I chose but it takes a while to build up the color on my cheeks and mostly looks really subtle and natural. I think this makes it a great matte formula option for those who tend to get heavy handed with their blush application.

We were all really happy with our purchases and already making plans for what to get at the next Colourpop sale! The quality is really quite good considering the budget-friendly prices, and there are a lot of options to choose from.

Have you tried Colourpop yet? What are your favorites, and what do you plan on getting next?
