Six ways to wear Classic Blue, Pantone’s 2020 Color of the Year, on your face and hair

A month before stepping into a new decade, PANTONE announced 2020’s Color of The Year: Classic Blue. Described as a restful color that brings a sense of peace and tranquillity to the human spirit, it becomes a standout shocker when used in beauty looks! If you’re feeling adventurous and dare to rock this color, channel Classic Blue with these picks:

The Colourpop Blue Moon Palette ($12 from colourpop.com) and the Jeffree Star Blue Blood ($52 from jeffreestarcosmetics.com) immediately came to mind for Classic Blue eyeshadow looks, but a more accessible option is the Revlon Looks Book Eyeshadow Palette in Player (P875 from Lazada). These monochromatic palettes are great for no-brainer experimentation, and the pigmentation offers great color payoff for truly electric eye looks.

If you want your makeup look to stand out without much effort, pop some Classic Blue eyeliner on your eyelids to create a bold statement! Use it on your lower lash line for a more avant garde effect without needing fancy techniques. Try this look with the Sephora Collection 12-Hr Vinyl Contour Eye Pencil (P436 from Sephora PH).

I remember seeing fellow PV writer Marielle wearing a beautiful blue mascara once, and though her eyeshadow was simple, the mascara made the whole look pop! She used the Colourpop Blue Ya Mind BFF Mascara ($8 from colourpop.com) but you can cop the look with the Pop Beauty Lashy Flashy Mascara in Blue Bloom (P495 from Lazada) and the Cover Girl Katy Kat Mascara (P399 from Lazada).

Paint your pout blue in different finishes! Blythe Cosmetics Majestic Matte Lipsticks (P165 from department stores) is a rich matte blue shade while the Revlon Shoot the Moon Collection has a Super Lustrous Lip Gloss (P350 from department stores) that’s shiny, shimmery, and not sticky.

If Classic Blue is too bold for your face, put it on your nails! Try the TENTEN Nail Polish in Midnight Kiss (P130 from Nippon) or Solique x Agoo Gel Polish in Posse (P180 from girlstufforever.com).

Dyeing your hair in a crazy color is fun but semi-permanent, so be prepared for the upkeep! You can still have fun without the commitment (and expense) by using temporary hair color products. Check out the Penshoppe Colored Hair Wax in Blue (P179 from Penshoppe) or Bench Fix Quick Color Hair Wax in Neptune (P179 from BENCH) to help you achieve this wash-off color fix.

What do you think of Classic Blue as 2020’s COTY? Will you be incorporating it to your look?
