Beauty Roundup: Dior Goes Matte, Sunnies Face Goes Nude, Careline Sells Out a Speakeasy, and More

The theme this week is staying power. Dior's new lipsticks are engineered to outlast your day, Bobbi Brown's foundation promises 24 hours of it, and Sunnies Face wants its nudes to be the shades you keep reaching for long after the novelty wears off. Then there's the other type: a Careline bundle that doubled as a party ticket and stayed on the TikTok Shop listing for all of five days, and a Halloween bar crawl that only rewards the first 50 beauty junkies through the door. Let’s get into it!

Dior's new Rouge Dior mattes are built to survive the day

Dior has brought the latest chapter of Rouge Dior to the Philippines, and the pitch is endurance. Under Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, the house says Rouge Dior "continues its quest for extreme performance" with two new mattes. Rouge Dior On Stage Matte is the bullet: an intense matte finish in a thin film with what Dior calls a bare-lip sensation, a soft, creamy texture that doesn't dry the lips out, and "life-proof" color that doesn't fade or smudge. Peony extract is in there to hydrate and plump, pomegranate flower extract to soften. The ten shades run from Nude Ultra and Magnetic Nude through Rosewood Glam, Mauve D-Vibe, Famous Rose, and Auburn Mystery to the house red, Red On Stage.

Rouge Dior On Stage Ink Blur Matte is the liquid, and Dior describes it as a new expression of liquid matte: buildable, blurring color with 24-hour no-transfer wear, weightless like an ink, and the same conditioning extracts. The shade list includes 999, naturally, alongside Rosewood Star, Shocking Peach, Captivating Rose, Dare In Coral, Nude Look, Nude Pulse, and Pink Charisma. Blurred matte lips have been the international direction all year, so it's good to see the local counters get this one on time rather than six months later. Both are available now at Dior Beauty counters.

Bobbi Brown's serum foundation arrives, with a new boss behind it

Bobbi Brown's Serum Silk Foundation is now in the Philippines. It's a lightweight, serum-like formula that the brand says is 84 percent skincare ingredients, with buildable medium coverage, a radiant, even-toned finish, and up to 24 hours of wear. Two bits of house tech aim to deliver the promise: Pigment-Lock Technology to keep the color from going dull or oxidizing through the day, and Translucent Veil Technology, light-reflecting particles that are meant to read as skin rather than shimmer. Lotus flower is in there for hydration. The local shade range is thirteen, from Neutral Alabaster and Cool Ivory through Sand, Beige, Golden Beige, and Natural Tan, which is a decent spread for a counter brand, if still thin at the deeper end.

The timing is interesting because of who's now in charge. Estée Lauder has named Gaétane Baudry, formerly Global Brand President of Shu Uemura at L'Oréal Luxe, as Bobbi Brown's new Global General Manager, effective October 8. Shu Uemura is a brand that built its reputation on artistry and texture, so a foundation that leads with skincare percentages and light-reflecting tech is a fair preview of where she might take things. Worth watching what the first launches under her actually look like.

Careline turned a P1,499 bundle into a sold-out event pass

Careline has been running a detective-themed campaign for its 40-piece Stack & Go system since the start of the month, and this week the case file got a venue. Project 040 is a party at The Iron Fairies on October 25, and the only way in was the Iron Fairies x Careline bundle on the brand's TikTok Shop: ten Stack & Go pieces, plus the Pore-Refining Primer, Skin Tint, Brow Flick, Lash Spike, Click On Fleek, Matte Fix Setting Spray, and Volcanic Roll, with mocktails and sliders at the venue thrown in. The brand priced the whole thing at P1,499 and valued the products alone at P4,700. Super Sulit!

Careline posted the bundle on October 9 and declared it sold out on October 14, with a promise of limited walk-in slots on the day for anyone who missed it. If you already bought in, there's a dress code (come dressed, "the investigation begins"), and the Stack & Go lineup itself, every piece at P251, is still on shelves for the rest of us.

Hello Glow's tinted sunscreen grew up, in size and in formula

Hello Glow's Anti-Pollution Tinted Sunscreen has been the brand's quiet workhorse: SPF 50+ PA++++, a tone-adapting tint that gives you light coverage without a white cast, and the brand's Pollustop Technology, which is meant to put a barrier between your skin and whatever the EDSA commute throws at it. As of October 13 it comes in a new look and a new 50g tube, up from the old 20g, with what the brand calls an upgraded formula. The skincare stuffing is niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin E, so it's doing some brightening and hydrating on the side, and the finish is lightweight and non-greasy, which matters when you're reapplying at 2 PM in a jeepney.

The brand is making a point of saying it's FDA Notified and SPF Tested, which is a dig at the rash of sunscreens that turned out to be mostly moisturizer, and a fair one. It's at Watsons branches and online now.

Sunnies Face releases its nudes, in two finishes

After a week of winking captions ("we're about to release our nudes"), Sunnies Face has put a date on it: STAY Collection: The Nudes lands today, October 16. There are five new shades, each available in both longwear STAY formulas, so you pick the color first and the texture second. Intimate is a taupe nude, Surely a nude blush, Undone a rose taupe, Gentle a muted rose nude, and Plush a deep nude pink. The brand's own framing is that everyone has a different idea of their perfect nude, which is true, and also a nice way of saying the five run from barely-there to definitely-wearing-lipstick.

The Staystick is the longwear creamy matte lip crayon, P495, and the Staygloss is the longwear high-shine gloss, P595. Both are existing formulas, so if you already know how STAY wears on you, there are no surprises, just more choices in the range most of us reach for on an ordinary Tuesday. In the comments, Undone and Surely are the early favorites.

Dazzle Me is buying you a Halloween drink, and the first 50 get free makeup

Dazzle Me's Dazzle & Treat started as a Poblacion thing: a couple of bars, a few makeup-inspired cocktails, and a free lipstick if you got there early. Four years in, it has outgrown the neighborhood. On October 30 and 31, the brand is taking over cafés and bars across Metro Manila, Luzon, Cebu, and Davao, with stops in Katipunan, Molito, BGC, Makati, Bulacan, Pampanga, and Baguio. The participating list so far includes Tipple & Slaw, Tipple Cafe, Angkan Coffee, Versus Barcade, Polilya, Bolo Coffee Club, Atmosfera, Cafe Resé, Black Ball, The Ampersand, U.T.S., Gamut Bar + Kitchen, and The Pre-Game Social, with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options on the menu, so the café crowd isn't left out.

The mechanics are the same as always and still the best part: the first 50 customers at each venue who order the featured Dazzle Me Halloween drink get a free Dazzle Me beauty product. New this year is a Dazzle & Treat board game built around the idea of a Halloween beauty hunt, where each venue's drink is inspired by a Dazzle Me product and you work your way around the map. There are also five PR kits with all 13 products from this year's campaign up for grabs: post your night and tag @dazzleme_ph on Instagram on the 30th or 31st to enter. The actual drink menu is still under wraps, which is either suspense or a brand that hasn't finished naming cocktails after lip tints. Either way, it's a more fun Halloween plan than most.

And that's it for this week's Beauty Roundup!
