Titas, rejoice: There's a new soothing oil in town, and they're pretty

When we posted about our tita-purse must haves, a lot of our readers shared that they tote around pain and stress relievers, too. Medicines, soothing balms, liniments, essential oils, and even bandages are now part of our purse essentials! To be honest, I wasn’t very surprised; it seems like we all deal with stress and pain on the daily. We may associate pain relievers with the elderly but the reality is any weekday warrior in the metro can do with some stress relief.

Enter Danarra, aromatherapy oils that combine the cooling sensation of a soothing balm with refreshing therapeutic scents! It comes in six variants: Classic Menthol (Destress), Green Tea (Clear Mind), Lavender (Relaxing Sleep), Young (Cool & Fresh), Flowery Citrus (Energy Giving), and Sport (Mood Booster). The brand name is a play on the Scottish Gaelic word nadarra, which means natural, or of nature. It is made in the Philippines by Beauty Elements Ventures Inc., makers of popular skin whitening brand Kojie San.

Off the bat, I really liked that it came in rollerball packaging. It’s very easy to use on the go, fits in all my purses (even my pockets), and hasn’t spilled in my bag! Yes, I once had the horrific experience of my purse—and everything in it - smell like a masahista at the end of a very long day.

True to its promise, it doesn’t smell overbearingly like liniment. The menthol and camphor components do hit my nose first but that soon fades to give way to a more gentle scent. Even the Classic Menthol leaves a sweet after-note! It can be used for aromatherapy by applying on the palm, rubbing your hands together, and inhaling the refreshing scent. I find that doing this clears up my sinuses, even during a serious cold. It can also be applied directly to areas with sore muscles. I’ve used it on my lower back (holla at my fellow titas) and legs this way. It takes a while for the cooling sensation to kick in, but once it does, you WILL feel it!

The Sport variant has the most distinctive scent, and is something I think athletes can really appreciate. Flowery Citrus and Young help improve my mood after a particularly stressful day. Green Tea and Classic Menthol help me to focus and feel refreshed. My favorite would have to be Lavender, though. I’m not normally partial to this scent, but it truly helped me sleep soundly through the night! I’d recommend this in a heartbeat for anyone like me who has difficulty getting a restful night’s sleep.

I’ve found myself reaching for these little bottles of happiness more than I initially thought I would. In my (ab)use, I found that too much exposure to this irritated my eyes (totally my fault!), so those easily sensitized by camphor might want to limit usage. The box also clearly indicates that this is for external use only, should not be used on irritated or broken skin, and should be kept out of reach of children.

The best part? These are available at Mercury Drug Stores nationwide for just P89 for the 10mL bottle! At this price point, you can totally get more than just one variant, and just use whatever suits your mood. Do check them out so you can AromAway the Stress!
