Budget Beauty: Under P500 liquid lipsticks you need to try right now

Liquid lipsticks are a hot beauty trend that's been going strong since last year. The intense lip colors may come in glossy or matte finishes, and usually need a coat or two for the color to properly show. Though they deviate from the usual cream based formulas, they are prized for being long-wearing and more kiss-proof/transfer-proof than traditional lipstick. Fortunately, there are quite a few liquid lipsticks that will make you fall in love at first swipe and not have to worry about breaking the bank over!

Wet n' Wild MegaLast Liquid Lip Color (P299 at department stores)

The lowest-priced on our list delivers intense color and promises to last up to eight hours. Typical of most liquid lipsticks, this formula is long-lasting and is transfer-proof, food-proof, and kiss-proof. Moisturizing Vitamin E is included but it’s best to apply lip balm prior to avoid overly dry lips.

Maybelline Vivid Matte/Velvet Matte (P349 at department stores)

If you ever encounter liquid lipsticks from this brand with either name, it’s the same product since the Velvet Mattes were renamed the Vivid Mattes earlier this year. Moisturizing lip products are no biggie to Maybelline, and this cream to matte formula is no different. Read up on Liz’s initial review for BeautyMNL and see swatches of all nine lippies!

Pink Sugar Sugar Tint Lip & Cheek Tint (P349 at department stores)

Technically the label says tint but it is so pigmented that we’re including this for our liquid lipstick category. Aside from the much-raved about color payoff, the staying power and matte finish easily makes them instant faves from the local beauty brand. Included in the formula is Coconut Oil, Aloe Vera, and Vitamins A, C, and E that helps combat the dryness one often experiences with mattes. They also recently came out with FIVE new Tints that include Kylie Jenner-inspired nude shades we’re currently loving. More on those soon!

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick (P390 at SM department stores)

It’s matte, it’s waterproof, and it has 12 amazing shades! This latest version of the liquid lipstick from NYX might just have all that you can ask for. You can build on the color for a more intense pigmentation and it will stay smooth and creamy. It takes a bit of time to dry, but stays fixed when set.

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip (P420~ at online stores)

This product is one of the reasons we want Colourpop to come to the country, aside from the fact that they don’t test on animals. With an ultra-matte finish and transfer-proof staying power, you can snap up one (or two, or three) from online resellers like Death By Lipstick on Facebook.

L'Oreal Color Riche L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick  (P450 at department stores)

Tired of mattes? These glossy lippies are fun and flirty, and feel like you slathered lip balm on your smoochers. They're hydrating and non-sticky! Rose Symphony in particular is a pretty daily pink that brightens up your smile - it's a must-have shade.

Sleek Makeup Matte Me (P450 at SM department stores)

The UK brand launched late last year with a 12-color collection of long lasting matte lippies in just one coat. To show how versatile this lipstick can get, try out our tutorial for a matte gradient lip. We’re loving the cult-fave shade Birthday Suit which is almost always sold out at the counters.

Etude House Color Lips Fit (P498 at Etude House boutiques)

If you’re looking for a matte liquid lipstick that doesn’t feel like you’re wearing anything at all, then this one’s for you. The vivid colors of this product settles into a powdery matte finish that feel “weightless”. Etude House also has another liquid lipstick called Color In Liquid Lips, which has a bit more shine and an additional hundred pesos to the price tag.

There were some that just went slightly past P500, and we couldn't resist adding them because they're pretty awesome, too!

Tony Moly Kiss Lover Lip Master (P548 at Tony Moly boutiques)

Touted as a lipstick plus gloss plus tint in one product, the Lip Master is a versatile product. The highly pigmented liquid can be applied lightly as a tint or in several swipes as a glossy lipstick (although the ads promise a matte finish). It's over budget when you buy at the store, but you can grab this at Althea Korea Philippines for only P440 when on sale!

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor (P575 at department stores)

Rounding up our list is this velvety matte from Revlon. It’s not quite a super-dry matte as shown in our review of the product but they're really pretty nonetheless. They boast of a “creamy mango and whipped vanilla fragrance” and 16 shade options.

In applying liquid lipsticks, a good prep routine (aka, exfoliating and moisturizing) is a must to avoid visible flaking and chapping. Using the wand included, start applying on the bottom lip first, from the center before spreading it to the edges. Proceed to the upper lip and follow the edges of the cupid’s bow. Need more help? We've got more tips here!

Did your favorite under P500 liquid lipstick make the list? Which are your go-tos? (Note on the plural because we can never have just one! *wink*)
