10 Korean beauty and fashion Instagrammers you need to follow now

My love of makeup evolved from a high schooler’s obsession over Korean pop music. As a teen, I listened to their songs over and over again, and of course, swooned over their photos. While “good looks” and “pop stars” have always gone together, there was something different about how blindingly beautiful KPOP idols looked. I mean, just take a look at this photo!

That luminous skin, that gorgeous hair, that perfect smile. Wouldn’t you want to look this pretty, too? Especially when you realize that this a photo of a guy, Seventeen’s Jeonghan. Yup.  A dude with pretty hair and skin and everything. The world can be so unfair.

In typical fangirl mode, I did some research and thus discovered the amazing world of KBeauty. Needless, I’ve been obsessed ever since. And I have these Korean celebs to thank for inspiring me to start on a skincare regimen early (compared to other girls at my age then). I have since stepped back from KPOP a bit, but am still crazy about Korean beauty trends! To keep up to date with all the interesting new ideas that come from that part of the world, my attention is now more on some SNS (social networking sites) celebrities and I definitely recommend for you to follow them too for some serious beauty and style inspo!

Pony (@ponysmakeup)

Pony started as an aulzzang (pretty face) beauty blogger. Now, she is an author, a Youtube celebrity, a professional makeup artist to singer CL, hosts her own show (Pony’s Beauty Diary), and has her own makeup line (Pony Effect)! With an IG following of 1.6 million, she's pretty hard to miss if you're into KBeauty. The way she blends her makeup and does her arches is just oh-so-amazing.

One of my personal idols is Ssin! She is a Youtube beauty guru working with her younger brother, a cousin, and a cat named Ruka. She has a carefree personality and her videos are English subbed! Although her Instagram is a mix of her makeup picks and personal posts, it’s very interesting and fun! She mostly does "Idol makeup" and she does it well!

Dawn Lee (@2dawn_)

Is beauty and travel your thing? Dawn’s got you covered. I find her makeup style a little bit more mature but still very feminine! I also learned how to cut my own bangs from her Youtube video, so I’ve been cutting my own bangs for almost a year now! :D

I learned about the wonder that is eye cream from Lamuqe. I saw her in a TV feature once, and she revealed that she started using eye cream when she was like in 5th grade at around 12 years old. Needless to say, her skin is super nice, and I like that her makeup looks range from sweet to sophisticated. Also, I think I spotted a Shu Uemura cushion on her feed!

Da Sol Lee (@daddoa)

She is another Youtuber I love. Her makeup style looks natural, but actually has a lot of steps because she does her base to perfection. She’s also famous for that natural and clean, student-friendly makeup!

Jenn Im (@imjennim)

Jenn is my ultimate fashion icon. Even though I am into makeup more than fashion, she makes me feel like dressing up shouldn’t be a special occasion thing and I can be as dressed up as I want any day!

SunnyChannel (@sunnychannel)

Can you believe this girl is younger than me?! Sunny made her break when she made a Hyeri makeup tutorial and since then, she’s been constantly making awesome tutorials in her Youtube channel. She's based in the US, so she follows both Korean and American style makeup. I love her take on the Kylie Jenner look!

Jen (@frmheadtotoe)

A soon to be mom, Jen is my favorite when it comes to everything! The fact that she has monolids (like me!) gives me even more reason to try her tutorials. Her style is more of the conventional Western makeup we see from Hollywood stars, but it still has that hint of delicate femininity you see in Asian-style makeup.

Jennifer Kim (@meejmuse)

Jen used to be a TV reporter for Arirang, and now she mainly focuses on her Youtube channel, creating content mainly on beauty and Korean culture. Oh, and she has amazing hair!

Angel (@beautifymeeh)

Angel is such a beautiful mom, I swear. Her feed contains makeup, fashion and food-related posts with occasional photos of her adorable sons. She’s currently a Youtuber, a blogger, and I’m not sure if she still does makeup artistry but she did! Her forte was bridal makeup.

I hope seeing these posts on your feed will inspire you as much as they do me! And of course, please do follow @projectvanitycom on Instagram for the latest local updates, plus exclusive content that you won't find anywhere else! ^_^
