Three things that are cute but unnecessary to have

I saw a quote earlier today that went something like, "Creativity changes the way people behave". I believe this. Creativity has a role in functionality, but creativity for the sake of it is also powerful. A pretty picture, for example, has no practical use except for the emotions or ideas that it evokes in the observer. It can change how a person looks at the world and that's a damn amazing thing, if you ask me.

I think it's the same for beauty products that are nice to have but are not necessary to keep. Why make them if only a few people can truly appreciate them? I somewhat answered this in an old post. An object, however useless it may seem, can make a person feel cuter, refined, more put together. If something can do any of these things then I wouldn't call it useless!

I scoured through my photo archives and found three products that are nice but unnecesary to have. Of course, this list is subjective, so what might not be super useful to me might be useful for you. Have at it!

Etude House Sweet Pink Sweet Cake Fragrance. This looks like those big swirly candies that come in a stick. True to the name, it smells quite saccharine and girly - hard to dislike, really! It's a solid perfume that you rub onto your pulse pooints, and the cool thing is that you don't have to worry about it breaking into pieces should it fall.

Majolica Majorca Popping Shower Powder. This scented and glittery body powder looks amazing on the dresser. :P The metallic printed bottle plus frosty flip top cap is just too pretty! On the body, it does impart some glow and a subtle scent on skin. Great for parties, just not for normal days out.

VMV Hypoallergenics Lipstick Case. This looks so suave with its soft leather material and stitched details. It houses three lipsticks plus a mirror in case you want to retouch. I think OC girls will love this, or just about anyone who wants a more organized bag. Not sure if they sell it though!

And that's it! Do you have things that make you feel nice but aren't particularly useful beyond that? (Obvious answer: HIGH-HEELED SHOES!!!). It's so fun being a girl!

I totally agree with you Liz! they aren't really important. plus they take away the budget that intends for more important use .but, their packaging is so cute and colorful. they are eye candy.. maybe that's the reason why many spend without thinking..

Etude's and majolica majorca's packaging is always pretty. I guess these companies know the weakness of women. ;)

this is so true. haha this is why aside from buying cute packaged makeup stuff I also lean towards buying other cute and girly things like print tattooed scissors, paper clips, or scotch tape when clearly I could buy the cheaper un-printed ones which work just as well (but not as fun to look at). :D

The Majolica Majorca, totally not useful for me :( The smell is so nice but during this hot weather, not really useful :( However, I liked the VMV lipstick case! Where did you get that Ms Liz? :) The Etude House Fragrance, I haven't tried that one yet :( But I think it's not a "must-have" because people brought their perfumes/ colognes with them. :)

Through blog hopping, I saw this lipgloss with super princessy romantic packaging which I so wanted to buy but it's not being sold here. :( Lip gloss isn't a necessity for me I just wanted the uber pretty packaging. :))

Yes, it's so fun being a girl! I have the Majolica Powder and yeah, really great for parties! I always finish a bottle nga eh, medyo mahal Lang if you think about it but since its not sticky, go na ako! Since most of my friends smoke in parties too, this powder is very useful kasi it gets rid of the smell, not really overpowering, very light plus may shimmer pa! The lipstick pouch for me is important, I have many lipsticks with me and I bring them anywhere I go, too bad wala akong makitang ganyan.

The solid perfume might be useful for travelling since liquids (like colognes and perfumes) are not allowed to be handcarried in planes. Perfect if you want to smell nice as soon as you get to your destination without digging inside your check in luggage for a spray bottle.

"Do you have things that make you feel nice but aren't particularly useful beyond that? (Obvious answer: HIGH-HEELED SHOES!!!). "

I so agree! Hahaha my mom's been scolding me about my growing shoe collection (as well as my decreasing savings lol) and she's telling me that i only need 2-3 pairs of high heels which I can mix and match with all of my dresses. I can't believe she said that (well thinking now.. it's practical of her so she's right hehe). Anyway! I haven't seen those products/things before to be honest! But they look good to try haha! I don't need the lipstick case though. I have the bag organizer and make up kit. But it looks prettier with VMV lip case lol :)

you are right about that ms. liz..we often buy things because they are cute or pretty to look at..without even thinking if we really need it..(guilty girl right here!haha)

us girls are weak at pretty stuff! Make up in general! Though I have pretty decent make up stash that I can rotate and use regularly, I still buy new ones instead of waiting for them to expire. Hehe not very frugal and wise but I cant resist colorful and adorably packed make-ups :)

That's what always happen to me. Specially sa shoes po. Even if I don't need a new pair, dahil lang sa design at kahit masikip sya, binibili ko talaga. Malaking factor ang colors ng mga products lalo na sa mga girls. Perfect marketing strategy.

I do! Quite a lot actually. I'm a sucker for cuteness (but I have to admit that high heels are of utmost importance to me).

I love packaging as much as the next girl, but I'm not easily swayed into buying make-up if it's just cute. But that lipstick case is pretty nifty though :) As for not-so-important-things-but-can't-resist-to-have stuff, my weaknesses are jackets and lately girly tops. I have a few items in my closet that needs proper weather and occasion to be used.

True that Ms. Liz! But I guess to each is their own. :) The woe of us women: we can't help it. :) How can you not be tempted with all those beautiful things that tickle our ladies' fancy from shoes, bags, makeups etc. You just really have weigh whether you need it or you just want it. Also pros and cons before buying anything.

Hehehe, well the lipstick case would be the most handy and may be necessary if you carry a lot of things and you find it hard to look for your lipstick sometimes! :) I like body powders already but a sparkling body powder would be more interesting!
