There was a time when beauty felt simpler, but also far more unforgiving.

Women were expected to follow a script: look polished, stay youthful, fix every flaw, and never admit how much effort it all took. Beauty was often presented as obligation rather than joy, performance rather than self-expression. Today, the landscape looks different. We have more products, more information, more access, and more freedom than ever before. But with that freedom comes a different kind of pressure: more noise, more confusion, and more questions about what beauty is supposed to mean now.

So this Women’s Month, Project Vanity is asking a simple but important question: What actually works?

This Women’s Month, Project Vanity invites you to rethink beauty at The New Rules of Beauty, a half-day summit happening on March 21 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at KMC Solutions, One Ayala in Makati.

The event brings together beauty experts, founders, and industry leaders to talk honestly about how women approach beauty today - from skincare and makeup to professional treatments - and how these choices evolve as we grow older and more confident in ourselves.

At the heart of the summit is a panel discussion featuring three women who represent different sides of the modern beauty industry.

  • Mae Layug, Founder of GRWM Cosmetics
One of the most influential beauty founders of her generation, Mae built GRWM Cosmetics into a beloved Filipino brand through her deep understanding of makeup, community, and what real consumers want from beauty products.

  • Dr. Jennie Francisco-Diaz (Doc Jennie), Skin101
A board-certified dermatologist and founder of Skin101, Doc Jennie is known for her practical, science-driven approach to skincare and aesthetic treatments. She has helped thousands of patients navigate both skincare routines and procedures with clarity and confidence.

  • Claire Ongcangco, Co-Founder and CEO of Parlon
Claire Ongcangco leads Parlon, a Philippine beauty and wellness platform that connects consumers with salons, clinics, and service providers through technology. Her work sits at the intersection of beauty, entrepreneurship, and the rapidly evolving service industry.

Together, they will unpack the beauty myths we must be letting go of, discuss fundamental skincare routines as well as how they are evolving beyond trend-chasing, and explore the growing role of aesthetic treatments in modern beauty.

The summit will also feature a makeup class on the latest trends in skin and makeup, showing how thoughtful skin preparation can transform the way makeup looks and wears. Attendees will see firsthand how good skincare, often simple and consistent, can make all the difference when it comes to achieving healthy, beautiful skin. We will also cover how to achieve one’s signature look for everyday and amp it up for special occasions.

Beyond the talks and demonstrations, guests can explore interactive brand booths, enjoy curated experiences, and receive exclusive gifts and product samples throughout the afternoon.

More than anything, The New Rules of Beauty is about helping women feel more confident navigating beauty today. Not by running after every trend, but by learning what really works, understanding our options, and making choices that feel right for our own skin, lifestyle, and stage of life.

Because beauty isn’t static. It evolves with us. And sometimes, the most powerful beauty rule of all is realizing that it’s never too late to learn something new about your skin, your routine, and yourself.
