The hunt is over: Here are the most flattering MLBBs every Filipina should own

From the perfect reds to the most flattering pinks, we are always on the hunt for that perfect lipstick. A bright, eye-catching pout instantly elevates any FOTD but there are days when you just wanna keep things low-key. The answer is, of course, the coveted MLBB (my lips but better) shade that gives that extra oomph with zero effort! It makes for a great go-to everyday lipstick that you’d want to stash in your purse since it can go with any look and outfit.

The perfect MLBB would have a similar tone to your natural lip color, with a slightly deeper tint to subtly reinforce its natural shape. Finding one can be tricky but I’ve put together nine contenders that can work for most Pinay skin tones in formulas and finishes that feel as comfortable as bare lips. Go and pucker up!

Happy Skin Moisturizing Matte Lippie in Honeymoon Glow (P649 at Happy Skin)

Happy Skin has mastered the moisturizing matte formula, and this shade with its warm rosy pink undertone is just spot-on. It’s quite pigmented and you need just one swipe to get full coverage. With or without a guy in tow, this will give you that just-got-out-of-my-honeymoon-glow!

Pink Sugar Super Creamy Matte in Breakfast in Bed (P349 at Watsons)

The perfect lippie to use for a fresh-out-of-bed vibe? Yes, indeed! Despite having a peachy undertone, this really brightens the face with just a touch of color. The formula is creamy and glides on with ease.

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte in Touch of Spice (P299 at Watsons)

Maybelline has a great selection for MLBB shades, and this particular lippie is a cult favorite that many swear by. The warm rosy pink with plum undertone works so well for everyone though it’s a bit deeper than the usual MLBB. It has a slightly satin matte finish with full pigmentation and opacity.

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte in Clay Crush (P299 at Watsons)

Another Color Sensational tube to love, this one offers the perfect medium peachy brown without looking too orangey. As for all Maybelline creamy matte lippies, this is creamy, opaque, and applies smoothly.

Maybelline Powder Matte in Touch of Nude (P299 at Watsons)

This has the right mix of peachy pink without looking too pastel-y. The formula is more matte than the Color Sensationals, and also more lightweight and opaque.

L’Oreal Color Riche Matte in 242 Rose Nuance (P349 at Watsons)

This is the perfect in-between pink and peach lipstick, with the mostly medium peach base giving the right amount of warmth. I love how the formula feels very luxe on the lips and does not feel drying at all.

Vice Cosmetics Good Vibes Matte in Itetch (P195 at vicecosmetics.com.ph)

Looking for an affordable dupe to MAC’s Maine Mendoza lippie? This under P200 lippie is your answer! It’s actually similar to Rose Nuance but has a cool pink undertone. It’s not as pigmented as the rest so you’ll need to apply 2-3 swipes to get full opacity.

blk All Day Intense Matte in Elegant (P299 at blkcosmetics.com.ph)

Want a deeper undertone? This is a warm peach with a strong brown undertone, and feels a bit more intense than the usual nude. The formula is a true matte but still feels hydrating and lightweight on the lips.

MAC Amplified in Cosmo (P1,100 at MAC Counters)

Crushing on Kris Jenner’s glossy lip? This is a good all-around neutral pink lipstick. I like the fact that it gives me instant lip fillers, and the satin finish does a great job of enhancing that pout.
