Ultherapy PRIME: What’s New About the Cult-Favorite Lifting Treatment
You can always tell when an event is going to be good. When I received the call to attend Timeless by Design, a dinner hosted by Skin 101 and Vanguard Philippines, I already knew it wasn’t going to be one of those forgettable, filler-type gatherings. And I was right.
Held at Blackbird in Makati, the event was elegant and intimate. It was meant to introduce Ultherapy PRIME, a new and improved version of the classic Ultherapy treatment, but the night turned out to be more than just a product launch. It was a celebration of what it means to feel powerful in your own skin, whether that skin is 25, 45, or somewhere in between.

The room was a cross-section of Manila's beauty ecosystem. We had OG supermodels like Myrza Sison, Apples Aberin and Phoemela Barranda, beauty queens like Nicole Borromeo and Pauline Amelickx, the ever-fabulous drag performer Naia Black, and beauty insiders me.
Our host, Alison Black, Miss Supranational 2022, was luminous and poised. She kept the flow smooth between cocktails, the multi-course dinner, and the introduction of the new Ultherapy. But the most interesting part for me wasn’t the formality. It was hearing how Skin 101 and Vanguard are trying to shift the conversation around beauty, from looking younger to looking aligned.

What Makes Ultherapy PRIME Different?
So, what makes this new version of Ultherapy different? It’s designed to be smarter, faster, and kinder to your skin (and your nerves). Ultherapy is currently the gold standard of lifting and tightening for the face; if you want slimmer cheeks or a more chiseled jaw, it’s a procedure you can do during your lunch break with no down time.
According to Sam Gallardo of Vanguard Aesthetics, PRIME was designed to refine what already worked and make it more precise, more personalized.
What I learned:
The imaging system is sharper. PRIME gives your doctor a better, more detailed look at your skin’s layers in real time. That means the ultrasound energy can be targeted exactly where it’s needed. You don’t get a one-size-fits-all treatment, you can focus on what you want to work on.
The tech is faster. The new system boots up quicker, adjusts more smoothly, and shortens treatment time. You’re in and out faster, and the device doesn’t lag.
It’s gentler. The energy delivery is more refined, so the procedure is more comfortable. Is it pain-free? Let’s not lie to ourselves, it still involves heat and muscle tightening. But the discomfort is now supposed to be very manageable.
It’s better for touch-ups. PRIME is ideal for people who’ve had Ultherapy before and just want maintenance. Or for first-timers who are lifting-curious but not ready to commit to anything too aggressive.

If you’ve ever thought about Ultherapy but hesitated because of the downtime or the “snapping rubber band” pain, PRIME might be your best shot at a more graceful first experience.
Before dessert, Dr. Jennie Francisco-Diaz, co-founder of Skin 101 led a conversation on “Unlocking Your Prime.” She made a strong point: being in your prime isn’t about age, it’s about alignment. And I felt that. It’s not about reversing the years, it’s about showing up fully in the one you’re in now.
