We Tried the blk x Rei Sets And Here’s What You Need to Know

blk Cosmetics has done it again! Their newest collaboration with Rei Germar feels like the perfect fit for the brand. Think youthful and goal-driven, versatile and hard-working. It’s not trying to be loud or overhyped and it just makes sense. The kind of collection that blends into your routine effortlessly, with pieces that feel like they were made for your everyday, not just your feed.

blk x Rei is especially curated by Rei Germar and features exclusive to minis items, pocket-sized versions of best-selling blk makeup, and new shades of our favorite blk lip products.

There are three blk Cosmetics x Rei Set Box (P1,299) in the collection with different themes representing a side of Rei Germar. Each has three Rei staples which are the Mini Soft Focus 16Hr Makeup Setting Spray (P399), the Mini Brow Lock Mascara in Clear, and the Mini False Lash Waterproof Mascara in Black (P299). The setting spray is exclusive to minis while the mascaras are pocket-sized versions of blk's existing top products. The best-selling Lash Mascara is a personal favorite of Rei's that keeps her short lashes curled.

The lip and cheek products included are what differentiates each set. The Dream State set is all about slow mornings and weekends that call for that no-makeup makeup look, hence the tagline "Beauty in your own time". The Mini Lip Butter (P349) is exclusive to minis and the set comes with the shade Outro, a warm nude. The Creamy All Over Paint in Barely Blushed is a new shade meant for the cheeks. Both lean warm but are somewhat low-key.

For moments that come from the heart and call for a soft glam look, the Love Locked set offers “Beauty that glows softly.” It comes with the Mini Airy Velvet Tint (P349) in Sway, a toasted peach that’s exclusive to the minis, and the Creamy All Over Paint in Something Pink, Rei’s favorite from the new shades. The overall vibe leans pink but stays wearable, with a romantic, feminine finish that still feels chic and modern.

This is the set I’ve been using, and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it. The basics are easy staples for me: a quick swipe of concealer, the Brow Mascara, and the False Lash Mascara make for a simple daily base. blk’s Creamy All Over Paint has long been a favorite, and Something Pink gives just the right pop of color. Paired with Sway, the look doesn’t go overly pink as it’s nicely balanced. A final mist of the Setting Spray ties everything together and helps the makeup stay fresh throughout the day.

The Active Radiance set is dedicated to the girls who are always on-the-go and does it all: think back-to-back events and "Beauty that moves with you". Rei admits this is her 70% of the time and is her autopilot state. Compared to the other sets, the colors of the lip and cheek products here are darker and bolder. The Glossdrip in Tote (P349) is a crimson red that can be intimidating at first swatch but blotting out the gloss leaves a lovely red stain. The Creamy All Over Paint in Rush Flush also has that reddish color to match the lip.

The default for the makeup sets is a regular box but for an additional cost, you can upgrade to the blk Cosmetics x Rei Set Mini Bag (P1,999). The mini crossbody bag comes in pink, silver, and black with a specific color assigned to a set. It's also possible to get the PR kit version that comes with a signed postcard, a mini trunk and a mini camera but it depends on availability.

For fans of lip products, here’s some good news! You can get them separately in their own Lip Sets (P999/set) with all three new shades, a reusable tin can, and stickers. The Lip Butter Lip Set in particular is very eye-catching because have you seen the mini blk tags attached to each Lip Butter? Super cute! The unfortunate news though is that the new shades of the Creamy All Over Paints are only available as part of the blk x Rei sets. I hope blk will allow us to purchase them separately too as Barely Blushed is definitely calling out to me.
