Drugstore goodie: Covergirl Bombshell Volume Mascara
Just as I was about to write this post, I googled for reviews on the Covergirl Bombshell Volume Mascara (~P500). I love it - it's among my top three on rotation - so I was surprised and appalled to find out that a lot of people hate it. It has such a low rating on Makeup Alley! Even my friend Julia of Bless My Bag only likes the #2 part of the mascara even though it's one of her top finds last year. Huh.
I don't know why that is. I find this mascara really good because:
- It delivers such great curl and volume. I use the #1 end to solidify the curl at the base of my lashes then the #2 to pump up the hair. My lashes stay up and fat all day! They look like falsies should I decide to layer on more than once per mascara wand.
- The waterproof formula doesn't smudge on me. I've worn this for 12 hours and I have not experienced any smudging or smearing.
- It comes away fairly easily with an oily makeup remover. No need to soak for long, unlike my other WP mascaras.
The only thing I dislike is that the tube is quite fat and the wands are on an annoyingly short stick. It takes some getting used to since I have small hands, but I don't mind because it's really easy to get the lashes I want with only a few strokes.
I mean look at this:
I only applied one coat per wand here and got these results; I normally use two coats for seriously large lashes. I've been using this mascara for almost two months now and haven't been disappointed by the formula.
Different strokes for different folks I guess! I'm just happy to find a new mascara that works for me. My favorite mascara of ALL time (Fairydrops!) is no longer available in the Philippines. This makes me sad. So I'm looking for rebounds, with a major S.
