Light and Basic: An honest review of the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion

CeraVe, a drugstore staple in the US that’s been around since 2005, blew up online just a few years ago because of younger skincare influencers led by Hyram. I’ve been meaning to try something from the brand but it was previously so difficult to get it in the Philippines! Luckily I spotted fresh stocks at Landers BGC some months back. I know that LOOK (in SM Aura) also sells the brand so FYI if you’re looking.

I bought the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion (P750 at Landers) while I was shopping for groceries. As you know my skin has been getting drier so I’ve been looking for lotions that will really help with the rough bits. I love the E47 Cream (something I also copped from Landers) but as I mentioned in my review it’s something I use only at night and when I don’t generally plan to move haha. Well, a girl can’t have everything!

The CeraVe definitely moisturizes the skin deeply with glycerin as its main ingredient. Glycerin is a fantastic humectant and is generally hypoallergenic, which makes it great for sensitive skin. What’s lovely about the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion is that they’ve made the formula quite lightweight! It’s smack in the middle between a gel and a lotion.

It has three different types of ceramide and hyaluronic acid to keep skin smooth and supple. I like that the ceramide ingredients are on the upper third of the ingredients list so there’s a good chance that they’re actually functional actives - not just added as a “pa-bida” ingredient that doesn’t do much.

The formula is scent-free (meaning it has no discernible smell) and fragrance-free (meaning there’s no fragrance added). Again, plus points for those with sensitive skin.

I like using this lotion because it boosts my skin moisture in a way that I can feel, without it actually being uncomfortable. It can be used during the day time too, unlike the E47!

Can it be used on the face? Yes it can! It would be great for dry sensitive skin. For me though, it’s too heavy for my oily-combination face. I think if I were traveling to somewhere cold my face would absolutely love it, but here in the Philippines it’s a no go. I would recommend this to a different skin type but yes, it’s not for the oily folks.

So yes, love the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion! It is only 10 or 11 USD but obvs in the Philippines it’s more expensive because of importation costs (which is rising fast btw). Still, it’s great value for money at P750 for 355ml of product. That’s a lot! And of course you can always order it online or abroad, or get it when you travel.

Let me know what you think!
