Quick Rave: Why you need the E45 Cream from Landers in your life

I was shopping in Landers BGC when I spotted the E45 Cream (P575 for 350 grams) on the shelves. I’ve not heard of it before, but looking at the claims in the front and ingredients in the back immediately convinced me to try it. I’ve been suffering from dry skin on my hands and feet, and needed something that can fix the issue fast. Normal heavy creams and lotions aren’t doing it for me as I always wash my hands and neglect my feet.

The EF45 Cream claims to be a treatment for dry skin issues including dry/flaky skin, eczema, itchy skin, dry psoriasis, and sunburn. These are weighty claims, but the ingredients list doesn’t lie. This cream is extremely effective because of the following active ingredients:

  • White Soft Paraffin (14.5%) - This is basically petroleum jelly, the best occlusive agent for skin in the world. Petroleum jelly prevents Trans Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) so moisture stays in the skin instead of evaporating easily.

  • Light Liquid Paraffin (12.6%) - This is mineral oil. It is an emollient that adds moisture to the skin.

  • Anhydrous Lanolin (1%) - This is medical grade lanolin oil that was designed to treat eczema and psoriasis. Lanolin oil is refined from the wool of sheep.

Indeed, the E45 Cream is the thickest cream I’ve tried in my life. It’s basically the super buffed up cousin of your garden variety petroleum jelly, but it actually sinks into the skin. It feels like it wouldn’t blend when I first applied it because it’s so thick! It’s very similar to an ointment. But after thoroughly massaging it on my skin, it does feel like it goes in and that I won’t be wiping cream on all surfaces I touch.

After a couple of minutes of applying the cream you’ll notice that your skin feels damp, even sweaty. It’s because the moisture is staying in close to your skin instead of evaporating too quickly into the air. That’s how the E45 Cream moisturizes - it’s a powerful occlusive and emollient because of the main actives.

This has no smell other than a tiny tiny hint of wax so it’s not unpleasant at all. I love slathering this on my hands, legs, and feet right before I sleep. I don’t recommend this in the daytime; just use your usual lightweight lotion if so. It’s because the E45 will feel uncomfortable if you sweat - the sweat will just kind of not come out of the impenetrable cream layer - so it’s best if you’re not physically active when you use it.

I don’t have psoriasis or eczema so I can’t say how this works for those with extremely sensitive skin. I did find it calming to my skin though when I feel itchy. Whenever my hands feel dry, I just massage this and boom, it’s fixed. I just can’t touch my phone for 15 minutes.

So why not just buy a jar or petroleum jelly or mineral oil, you ask? Technically you should get the same results applying mineral oil first and then sealing it with good ol’ PJ. BUT you won’t be able to move properly as petroleum jelly doesn’t set. The E45 Cream is that pleasant middle where you get the results but not the discomfort.

Next q: can you put it on your face? You can. This can be a substitute for petroleum jelly for the “slugging” technique where you sleep with PJ on your face. But it might clog pores due to the nature of the actives. I don’t recommend it unless you have really dry skin so please, use it sparingly.

Overall, I highly recommend you get a jar of E45 Cream when you spot it in Landers. The price at P575 for 350 grams is pretty good! It will last a while.

Have you tried this? What do you think?
