Trying out the Kerastase Discipline Fluidealiste Anti-Frizz Masque Hair Ritual on my grey, frizzy hair: Did it work?

Kérastase is a haircare brand that I’ve had great experience with so far. It addressed my post-partum hair fall a couple of years back with the Kérastase Genesis Anti-Hair fall line while I’ve used up a couple of bottles of the Kérastase Discipline Oléo-Relax Hair Oil. It is one of their best-sellers after all!

These days, my most pressing hair concern is frizziness. In part due to the dry weather and daily aircon exposure but mostly due to the dryness inherent in grey hair. Now's the perfect time to try out the Kérastase Discipline Anti-Frizz line!

The collection's goal is to make hair smooth and soft, frizz-free and easily managed. Its key ingredient is Morpho-Kératine that "coats each hair fiber, restoring uniformity and solidity for perfectly smooth hair". The prescribed routine promises fluidity of the hair, 72 hours of anti-frizz, and a faster longer-lasting blow dry.

There are four products in the line: a shampoo, a conditioner, a mask, and a leave-on product. The set I'll be using is the Kérastase Discipline Fluidealiste Anti-Frizz Masque Hair Ritual (P6,850 via HairMNL). The conditioner is not included since that one is recommended for fine hair.

The Kérastase Discipline Fluidealiste Shampoo (P1,750 for 250ml via HairMNL) is sulfate-free, promising to gently cleanse and deliver a weightless hair that is smooth and easy to detangle. I used this on its own the first few days to see how much of my issue it can “correct”. It does detangle easily but I felt like I needed more frizz management.

Instructions for use: Apply a quarter size amount of Bain Fluidealiste Sulfate Free to wet hair and scalp. Massage head using palms of the hands. Emulsify and rinse thoroughly.

This step continues the shampoo's smoothening and softening effect, while lessening resistance to styling and speeding up blow drying. I like using the Kérastase Discipline Maskeratine Mask (P3,200 for 200ml via HairMNL) because a single conditioning session can last a couple of days. I find that if I use this then have to shampoo only for the next two showers, my hair still looks well-managed sans the extra time of applying the mask.

Instructions for use: Use once a week for sensitized hair or with every wash for thicker hair. Apply to washed and towel-dried hair. Massage onto lengths and ends. Leave in for 5 minutes. Emulsify and rinse thoroughly.

The Kérastase Discipline Keratin Thermique Blow-Dry Primer (P1,900 for 200ml via HairMNL) adds a shiny glaze finish that tames the hair fibers, having an anti-frizz effect and reducing styling time. It also promises thermo-protection up to 180°C. Now I don’t really use heat on my hair often as I tend to just air dry and go but I feel like this helps shield my hair a bit especially if I have to go out in the sun. Grey hair is more prone to UV damage because of its lack of pigment so any protection helps! I will still go for a dedicated UV spray but this works in a pinch.

Instructions for use: Apply a quarter size amount of Keratin Thermique Blow-Dry Primer to washed and towel-dried hair. Massage onto lengths and ends and detangle with a comb, but do not rinse. Blow-dry, then heat style as usual to achieve the desired look.

Overall, the Kérastase Discipline line works best together. The Shampoo for daily cleansing, the Mask for twice a week treatments, and the Blow Dry Primer for that instant smoothing result. But if I have to get only one, it will probably be the Kérastase Discipline Maskeratine Mask. I feel like it soothes my hair the best!

Let me know what you think! What are your faves from Kérastase?
