Review: Burt’s Bees Anti-Blemish Solutions

I have normal skin, so a problem with blemishes is not immediately apparent. I only get pimples when I’m under too much stress, when I don’t sleep enough, or when I get my monthly period.

Problem is, I get really impatient and tend to pick at my face. As a result, my zit is gone but what's left is the permanent dark spot of a pimple scar. Add that to the blackheads on my nose (from being exposed to pollution while commuting), and a dull complexion from failing to exfoliate regularly. My skin was in desperate need of a makeover!

Luckily, my loot bag from Project Vanity’s 8th anniversary included products from Burt’s Bees Anti-Blemish Solutions line. It contained a full-sized cleanser, toner, and moisturizing lotion! I was super excited to try them and hoped that I'd finally be able to say goodbye to my blackheads and blemishes.

After using the line for a few weeks, here's my review!

The Anti-Blemish Purifying Daily Cleanser left my skin feeling clean but not tight or dry. After just three days of use, I noticed that my skin felt smoother and looked brighter. My blackheads disappeared, too! It smells like a mild concoction of herbs, which I like. Though it contains 1% salicylic acid (derived naturally from Willow Bark extract), it doesn't sting at all. It also has Evening Primrose and Beet Root Extracts to help calm acne-prone skin.

If you're wearing makeup, note that it's not meant to function as a makeup remover so make sure to use a separate product beforehand.

I love that the Anti-Blemish Clarifying Toner does its job well. It removes excess grime that the cleanser missed without irritating my skin. If you have dry skin, be warned that this contains alcohol but it kept my normal skin soft and smooth. Like the cleanser, it also has 1% salicylic acid plus Witch Hazel and Lemongrass. The latter has a nice, clean scent that is refreshing!

The Anti-Blemish Daily Moisturizing Lotion is my favorite among the three. It feels light on my skin but it doesn’t lack in its moisturizing power. I apply it in upward motion on my whole face, neck, and chest area just below my neck. It glides smoothly on my skin and it’s slightly sticky for a while but settles in gradually. It smells just a bit like leaves but it’s so mild, it’s not really noticeable. In addition to Lemongrass and Witch Hazel, it has Golden seal (a plant used to treat skin problems such as eczema, rashes, and skin ulcers) and Hops (a natural remedy for skin irritation and psoriasis).

Using this line has made my skin look and feel so much better. I've been using it for about five weeks now, and my skin is plump, firm, and radiant! I haven't had a single pimple since I started using this line, not even when I got my period. My blackheads have stayed away, and even the dark blemishes on my face have lightened.

The daily cleanser is priced at P850, the clarifying toner at P950, and the daily moisturizing lotion at P1,450. They have a Pore Refining Scrub and Targeted Spot Treatment, too. They're pricier than your usual drugstore finds, but it's not too bad considering how well this line performs. With its mildness and effectiveness, it exactly fits what I’ve been looking for: incredible results without the harsh effects.

Have you tried any products from the Burt’s Bees Anti-Blemish line? What blemishes are you hoping to get rid of?
