A lip gloss named Chocolate

Dark brown lip colors are definitely not for everyone, but they're nice to try if you enjoy retro, perhaps slightly goth looks. I like wearing them once in a while (my favorite is this Bobbi Brown lipstick called Rum Raisin) because they're groovy and hey, I can always take them off! That's the fun thing about lippies.

Recently, Rustan's sent me the Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Chocolate (P995), one of the latest shades in their lip gloss line. It immediately caught my eye because I don't think I've ever had a lip gloss shade like it! Lipstick, perhaps, but not lip gloss. The possibilities started running through my head.

Chocolate is a reddish brown that has mid-coverage. It can look patchy when worn alone, but if you layer it on top of ANY color, you'll get opaque results.

Going for drama: aside from the typical bronzes and golds, moss green eyeshadow goes well with Chocolate.

It's not super exciting by itself, as you can see in the pictures above. It comes to life when you layer it with lipsticks though!Try it with red, hot pink, and berry lips to see what I mean. They immediately turn darker, vampier with Chocolate on top, and are completely transformed. If you've always wanted your lipsticks to look more intriguing, Chocolate is the lip gloss for the job.

Now, the Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Chocolate might not be an immediately popular choice, so I do recommend you check out the other shades in the line. They look luscious! I'm pretty happy with Chocolate because I find it unique. The formula is good, as well. ^_^

Have you seen the new Laura Mercier products on counters? I believe the brand has a new primer, concealer, and foundation! I'll write about those next time.
