MAC Dollymix Sheertone Shimmer Blush

This review is part of a series: the Blush Week at Project Vanity. Read my first two blush posts (if you haven't yet)! ;)

It's a Blushin' Week at Project Vanity: My top five blushes

Artdeco Blusher in 38 First Love

The MAC Dollymix Blush (~P1,300) is a hot pink shade with very fine silver and gold shimmer - intimidating in the pan, but utterly lovely on the cheeks.  It's is one of the brand's most famous shades, with a whopping 4.4/5 rating at Makeupalley. I can see why!

It's scary off the bat, but once you apply it you won't see much of that Barbie pink intensity or shimmer on your skin. This blush actually looks like a darling medium pink with a satin finish when worn. I guess I better show you!

This kind of warmed-up pink can suit a variety of fair to medium skintones. It's a pigmented blush, but not too pigmented that you'd get 80s cheeks even if you try your best to use just a little! Just remove some of it on the back of your hand before brushing it on your cheeks; it's the best way to control the amount of color you get.

The texture is well-milled and tightly-pressed, so it doesn't feel powdery or chalky. The lasting power is pretty good - you can expect 3-4 hours of wear out of it in this weather, and that's saying something ha.

I think it looks okay on me, but I haven't worn it out that much to really fall in love with it. If you want your cheeks to be the focus of your look then Dollymix would be the perfect pink blush to pull it off. If you love strong lipsticks or eyes then this might be too pink - it depends on the look you're going for, I guess!

Overall, the MAC Dollymix Sheertone Shimmer Blush is a great option if you're shopping for a pretty pink blush that would stay on for a decent amount of time. It's a classic shade that'll take you years and years to finish since you only need so little per application.

Tried this yet? What's your favorite MAC blush? Mine would be Harmony, but it's primarily used as contouring powder even though it's from the blush line. ;) It's my favorite color for contouring for years now!

I'm starting to like shimmer blushes more now haha! Tbh I never owned any Mac products (their shops are way too far from my place :( ) but I'll keep this one in mind :)

Pretty! Doesnt look shimmery at all. Looks like a a healthy flush which is really nice. I have only 1 MAC blush Fleur Power which is peachy pink, with sheertone (or satin?) finish. I want Blushbaby and Gingerly next. Anyone who has them? Thoughts?
PS Liz, your brows here, did you use dirty blonde only or with girl boy? Thanks!

I have MAC amber glow blush, perfect for morenas. It is to provide exceptionally sheer and lightweight application. IT Veils and enhances my cheekbones with a luminous, pearlized shimmer. Next time I will try that one.

Dollymix looks good on you! I know this post is about the blush but I can't help but notice your foundation/powder. What did you use? Love the finish and you look glowing :)

Oh another shimmery blush that makes you glow. Hmm, super nice the effect on the picture. Btw, Ms. Liz, what's the muted lipstick you paired the blush with in the picture?

Hi there. Sorry out of topic but may I just ask what products you used on your brow? :-) It's amped up from your usual brow make-up but not in a kontrabida kind of way. It's very nice. Achieve na achieve! :-)

That looks so pretty on you, Miss Liz! I tried a friend's MAC blush once, and it was a very pretty pink. It looked kinda vibrant in the pan, but it gave me a natural flush when I applied it. I'd really like to try MAC blushes again, despite the hefty price tag, but I think I already have an overabundance of blush already, as I currently have an unhealthy collection that I need to use up first. Don't ask how many; it's embarrassing! Hahaha. :)

Looks interesting but I wouldn't say it's my favorite blush on you. It doesn't look shimmery in the picture which is a positive thing for me. I'm gonna check out the Harmony one. Thanks for your take on the dollymix :)

I prefer matte blushes on ordinary days. BUt during special occasions, flecks of gold/silver or shimmer is great for me.

This truly looks intimidating at first but it ends up looking so gorgeous on your cheeks! Since I haven't mastered yet the art of applying "just the right amount" of powder blushes, I often use MAC's Posey Blushcreme. The next time I visit a beauty counter, I'll try to check Dollymix and see if it can similarly give me a glowy look. :)
