Tutorial: How to make bottom lashes look naturally thicker

I'm sure bottom lashes are pretty low in your list of priorities when there are evil zits, violent eyebrows, and spiteful scars to fight. Still, a bit of work on those small, maybe invisible hairs on your lower lid can do wonders in opening up your eyes! You will also end up with a sexier, movie star gaze. ;)

I for one have almost non-existent bottom lashes because they seem to always break off all the time. They're sparse enough to begin with, dammit. However, what nature did not gift us, makeup shall conjure!

This tutorial will show you how to fake thicker bottom lashes without using obvious falsies or a straight line there. It's pretty easy to do although you would need a little practice (as with everything really) to get a nice clean finish. Here goes!

Step 1: You will need a long-wearing, preferably water resistant brown eyeliner to draw a combination of small dots and fine hairs on the root of the bottom lashes. If you have a pigmented brown eyeshadow or pencil eyeliner, that will do too. I prefer the liquid though because it's more precise.

So yes, just dot on the roots of the lashes - never a straight line - and tiny small downward dashes to mimic hair. Again, the goal is to look as natural as possible so the end result should be a haze, with no obvious lines. The brown should look like the shadow your lashes will cast when there's a light source from above.

Should look like this!

Step 2: Apply a non-smudging, water-resistant mascara to thicken those lashes. You don't need to work it heavily as you would on the upper lashes because you just need a bit of definition there, not drama. Position the wand like so, then weave the wand left to right repeatedly until the lashes are sufficiently coated.

If you get mascara on your skin, just wipe it quickly with a cotton bud. Others would recommend a mascara guard but I think it'd be hard to manuever the wand with one.

And that's it really, nothing too complicated. :) If you already have a thick fringe of bottom lashes then good for you! Just use a mascara. But if you're like me with sparse and even missing bottom lashes, then this is a useful eye-opener. Get it. Ha ha.

Have a great Wednesday folks! I'm off to far-off Alabang today for a shoot ocular. Speaking of - if you know any kids who are cute, long-haired, and mestiza, hope you can let me know ASAP! I'm looking for models for a big Pinkbox photoshoot.
