Just announced: Lancome x Alber Elbaz Collection

Alber Elbaz, the vision behind Lanvin, said in an interview, "I prefer being relevant to being cool, because if you’re cool, you’re also cold the next day. So it’s more about being relevant. The one thing that always scares me is to be like the Miss America of the moment, because next year there is a new Miss America."

This quote speaks to me on so many levels! I'm not cool, I've given up on that. But it would be unbearable for me to be irrelevant both as a blogger and as a professional. That's why I try so hard. :)

Speaking of Alber Elbaz, I have news for you: he is working on a cosmetics collection for Lancome! Intriguing right? His work at Lanvin has always been quirky, feminine, and immortal - imagine that in makeup! We'll see, we'll see. Watch out for the Lancôme x Alber Elbaz collection which will be unveiled worldwide on June 15th 2013.

Your blog is what I consider the "blog of all trades" though the part "master of none" is not applicable! What I love about your blog is that it is not only foused on make up but also tackle different aspect and topics. I always check your site for new post and enjoy reading each entry! The quote made me think that instead of following the latest trend made by others, make your own trend or at least be unique.

I also look forward to Lancome's new collection! Though I won't be able to buy it right now.

I agree, being irrelevant is quite disturbing, at least for me. I want to have a positive impact on the lives of my entourage. Knowing that I'm relevant even in small ways assures me that I'm living a meaningful life.

I don't own anything by Lanvin or LancĂ´me but I was struck by the timing of the announcement, almost half a year before the release of the cosmetics collection. It must be an extraordinary project with meticulous preparations! I'm curious :-)

love the artwork! i totally agree, parang in whatever you do, you need to make a lasting impression. parang sa beauty and fashion din na instead of choosing what's in , choose classic and timeless pieces, and trust me ang hirap gawin non kasi i always fall into the hype of the moment.

i dont own anything by them pero im looking forward sa post mo on them. im curious what freebies theyll be giving out to bloggers like you :-)

Coolness and relevance. Hmmm... it's comparing two different degrees to me.

Yes, being cool can be attractive -- at one moment. Just as this designer said, you could be cool one day but cold the next. There's always going to be some pressure to keep up and if you can't then you don't stay cool. You won't matter the next day!

Relevance on the other hand never gets old or c-old. How I see it is if you CAN keep at being cool THEN you become relevant. You say Liz that you try hard, and I think we can all agree that you are relevant. If you follow my line of thinking, well then that only means that you've been cool at some point and that you've kept at it, in the process becoming relevant! See, you're cool! Hehe.:-)

Okay, that was painful. On the subject now, quirky indeed! And what a charming teaser! Designer talaga! Even the cartoons look chic! As with any high-profile collaboration, I'm sure everything connected to this will be a heavily guarded secret until the June release! But if the video was any clue, then we should expect to see purples and blues and greens!:-) Bright colors for Lancome's summer collection! How refreshing! Especially with all the rich and glittery palettes from the holiday releases. I'm excited on how this partnership turns out! Whimsy and charming plus luxury and feminine! Translated into makeup! I'm sure it will be one of those too-pretty-to-use produce from Lancome! Kaabang-abang!:-)

You are, indeed, very relevant, Ms. Liz. Just ask your thousands of readers here! :) Coolness, i think, is quite juvenile. It's what teenagers use to describe jocks and cheerleaders. Relevance, on the other hand is more than just skin deep. I would much rather be relevant than cool! What an amazing quote from Alber Elbaz! Do you mind if I repost?

Can't wait for their collab too! Although I doubt I can afford any of it, I'm still curious as to how it will turn out.

You totally nailed it, Ms. Liz. Doing relevant things is the key. :)

I'm quite excited with this collection. He is a great artist! :)

What an interesting person he is. His outlook in life and the road he paves for himself are very admirable. "I prefer being relevant to being cool" is a statement of those who are prepared to go against the norm to stand out and be remembered.

Being cool is relative, you can be cool in different ways but keeping at it is the challenge. If one overcomes that, then they are relevant. That's something I would want to achieve too. Till then, I hope the people around me would be patient with me. I'm still under construction.

I agree with Yana Tan, you are definitely relevant Ms Liz!

I totally agree on the quote on the first paragraph. And I imagine you saying it na isang beauty queen. :)
