Hot from Shu Uemura

I read Jill's post on blogging burnout this morning. It's a topic close to my heart because I have experienced that many, many times in the past - you know, that feeling of weariness and futility of what I do. But each time I snap out of it. I truly love makeup and colors and how it can transform a person. There is always something new to discover, as well, and that keeps me going.

Recently, Shu Uemura gave me some of their latest products to try. I am so freakin' excited, I swear! The brand just recently released their spring collection called Celestial Garden, and I am loving the fresh themed look and relatively innovative products.

First off, they have a new blush called the Creamy Dome Blusher. It reminds me a lot of the popular EOS Lip Balm! If you think about it, the idea is so simple but elegant. Perhaps other brands have come up with a cream dome blush but this is the first time I've seen one locally.

Then we have the Shu Uemura Eyeshadow Trio. It comes in three variants: Air (purple, blue, brown), Light (green, yellow, brown), and Scent (pink, orange, brown). What's cool is that the eyeshadows are detachable and can be swapped with one another. The palette itself can also house a full-sized Shu Uemura blush.

The Gloss Unlimited is an ultra-light gloss that doesn't feel sticky and offers a sheer yet coloured finished. It comes in Blooming Pink and Corona Orange (shown here).

Other limited edition products from the Celestial Garden Collection include the Eye Crayon (has two brown shades that goes with the eyeshadow palettes) and Ultimate Natual Mascara in Dark Brown.

And now, for skincare! Shu Uemura has a couple of new favorites up its sleeve. One is the Whitefficient Under Base Brightening Mousse (P2,150), which is the latest in their line of makeup/UV bases. The mousse is slightly lavender in tone, which means that it corrects too yellow skintones. It also promises to brighten and plump skin.

And here's the product I am most excited about - the Shu Uemura Whitefficient Clear Brightening Cleansing Oil (P2,295/150ml and P5,295/450ml)! I am such a huge fan of the Shu Uemura oils. While I was trying all of the variants out, it came down to the Shu Uemura High Performance Balancing and the White Recovery Brightening EX cleansing oils. I had a hard time choosing. The HPB made my skin look better overall, but the WRBEX delivered visible brightening for me.

I ended up buying the HBP because it was slightly more affordable and I did like the better skin effect. However I am glad that I will get to try the improved versionof WRBEX, which is the Whitefficient oil.

So yay, there you have it. I will be reviewing these products in detail in the weeks to come, so stay tuned! Let me know if there's anything you're most interested in and I'll try to write about that sooner.

PS - Shu Uemura has a cool ongoing promo! Certain products are packaged together at a sharp discount. Example:
