Unveiling the Glamourbox for November
Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 10:37AM Beauty boxes are all the rage these days. They're a convenient and exciting way to sample new products that (ideally) you won't find by yourself. It's just like giving yourself a monthly surprise gift! But there are downsides. You have no idea if you'll even like what's inside the box, moreso if the subscription fee - not really cheap at P500 to P600 - will even cover what's inside it. I've seen a box that features drugstore products and another that everyone says is a total rip-off with the overall value much less than the fee. What do you think?

Don't lose hope yet, though! Glamourbox has a really nice box, their first, for November. They have premium brands in the list as well as intriguing names that we've never heard of before. I guess the most important thing is that you get more than what you paid for. See for yourself, here are pictures of and my comments on the things inside!

Welcome post card with product info and prices in the back

Ta-dah! Full box with premium items.

Perfume samples from Bvlgari, Burberry, and Calvin Klein. I like the small vials because they're safer and easier to bring, but I hope that next time they would offer the mini fragrances instead. Bottles are cuter and more product inside too!

A lip palette! Ofra Cosmetics is a Florida-based brand. This palette has rose and earthy-hued lipsticks that are fairly pigmented. Great for morenas, handy to have in a purse.

Eye of Horus is an Australian brand that formulates their makeup according to how the ancient Egyptians did it. Epic concept! This particular mascara is suppsed to give a clean, natural finish that's easy to wash off. Oh did I say it's full-sized? It's worth P1,290!

I also got a Shiseido mask that expands when you use the liquid softener. I think that the box has more generous Shiseido samples for subscribers. But since I got the box for free they probably included just this one.

Masks

Yves Rocher, a French brand available in several malls here in Manila, has their Slimming Concentrate in the box. They also gave a P200 GC - not bad considering Yves Rocher items are usually less than P1,000 and are on regular sales.

So there you go. I like what's inside the box - not everything, but I appreciate the fragrances because I can bring them around, as well as the lip palette and full-sized mascara. I also like the box itself because it's sturdy and hard, which means I can use it as an accessories or cosmetics tray. :) If you like the box too, you might want to subscribe here.
Enjoy your boxes! And oh if you got one too let me know what you think. I'm usisera lol.
Disclosure: Glamourbox advertises on this website, but they did not sponsor or influence this review post. :)

I'm thinking about subscribing too..:)
Hey Liz! I got the first BDJ Box and I thought it was pretty good. I think they'll do well because they already have connections from their years of producing planners... but I dunno, we'll see. Maybe Glamourbox and the other subscription boxes will step it up in the months to come! Looks like their first box was pretty good. :) I also don't really like small perfume vials...the mini bottles are much better (but also much more pricey I'm sure).
what's the white thing on the lip palette? is it meant to be a clear gloss?
i love the name Eye of Horus, and the concept behind the brand! i think the Egyptians came up with the idea of using kohl as eyeliner, and they probably formulated the first eyeshadows as well. can't wait for you review on this one! where do we find their products?
Hello Liz,
can I ask if I can subscribe to glamourbox even if I'm not a blogger? I don't write reviews but I think this is a convenient way of having girly stuff without spending too much money, like a monthly gift you say. Thanks!
@mariana thanks for the feedback! Haha I dont know if you want people to buy full size its better if they can get at least a glimpse of the full experience. vials arent doing it for me.
@Isea i'll give it to you! then tell me whatchu think
@dee Anyone can subscribe! :D There's a monthly subscription fee :D
Eye of Horus is amazing!! :)
I got mine last week and I love everything that's in it - especially the Eye of Horus mascara. It made my lashes more curved.
BTW, I also did a review about the November Glamourbox on my blog.
I subscribed to this and got mine a few days ago. I am definitely happy with the samples. I havent tried the full-sized mascara and lip palette yet. The Shiseido balancing softener and masks are cool and leaves the skin SOFT. So I'm happy :) Will still be suscribing to their future boxes :)
Amazing! I love the idea behind beauty boxes. I'm so tempted to subscribe.
Gosh! They are REALLY amazing giveaways! I'm really liking the eye of horus mascara. hmmm... isip isip! :D
That mascara looks promising. Do they have a list kaya of what brands they're partnered with?
I love Eye of Horus! It does not smudge nor flake- unless I skip my eye primer (but that's just because my eyes are exage sa pagka oily.) The Ofra lip palette, I'm not quite happy with it. It tastes plastic-y. This is the only one I didn't enjoy. Pero keri na coz bayad na yung Glamourbox ko sa mascara palang. Yay!
I was a little hesitant at first, because I was worried that I won't end up using the samples that they would send. But after reading this review, I am SO getting one. I want the mascara! :)
Now that's a good box! I saw some from other bloggers and I don't know exactly from what company but the contents are meh. This one has Bvlgari, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Shiseido, and Yves Rocher! These are brands that you really want to try in sample sizes first because they do not come cheap. Also, the sample sizes are big enough to use for quite a while. They also included a lip palette and full sized mascara. This is the kind of box I want to receive. I'm contemplating on subscribing.
Thanks for this. :)
You're right Ms. Liz. A lot of Beauty boxes are coming out these days. I first heard of it from Michelle Phan then now we have our own versions here in the Philippines. I'm thinking of subscribing too but I'm really confused where to subscribe, if I'll be getting what I paid for. Because of this post, Glamourbox is on top of my list. I love the mascara and the palette! I hope they will consistently be that generous in the following months.
The shades of the lip pallete are so lovelyyy! Perfect for the nearing Christmas parties hohoho. The box looks dazzling. How much more the items inside *hits the <3 button* <3
I really hated the Saladbox. Everything in it was cheap tat that looked like they came from a dollar store. I was so frustrated that I asked for a refund. They refused to give me one and offered 300 pesos shop credit. As if I want to buy any of the brands they have on hand!
I also wrote that I felt they had overpriced the box. I calculated the cost and it came out to 387 pesos (exclusive of shipping) for each box. When I told Saladbox I felt they had misleading advertising WRT cost/quantity (as indicated in the letters that come with the box) they accused me of being unable to understand the basic concept of a subscription box and the proper way to do maths. I'm a Business Economics grad and in law school!
ARGH. I would definitely not recommend subscribing to Saladbox. I was so mad that I wanted to write a long, ranting review on my blog. I took pictures and everything, but when push came to shove, I didn't want to have so much negativity on A Plus B in the Sea, especially since B and I haven't had time to write much the last few months!
P.S. I settled for writing reviews of the products on their site but I've just checked and they didn't post them! I will follow-up and see whether they are censoring reviews!
I've seen the saladbox reviews by other bloggers and I'm a bit disappointed by it. It's not meant to discourage the people behind this brand but to encourage them more to do more research and reviews because there are a lot of good brands out there just waiting to be discovered! :)
live d concept of beauty boxes, lov getting surprises! nxt yir il subscribe cause i hav so many bills to settle.
thinking of subscribing too ;)
