Optimism in lavender
Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 6:01AM I would call myself a relatively happy and optimistic person. The secret? I don't worry about the things I can't change. I work around them instead of cracking my head open trying to get through. I know in my bones that there are other (maybe even) better things to want, to conquer. There's always something else for me, I just need to keep an eye out for it. And so do you!

Dress, heels, belt from Forever 21 / Pinkbox bangles, ring and ribbon

Makeup: Models Own Hyper-Brite Lipstick in Annalise's Pink, Revlon ColorStay nail polish in Wild Strawberry, Stila In The Garden Palette (eyeshadows), Fairydrops Volume Burst Mascara
Not that I'm particularly sad or disappointed about anything right now ha! I just want to share how I manage not to be bitter and negative, two things that can ruin lives. :) They may sound inconsequential compared to the direct challenges we face everyday, but it's the aftermath - the way we choose to remember them - that can reduce us to a miserable version of ourselves.

Oh but here I am rambling again. I just woke up super early today and that always gets me in a mood. :P So how about you, how do you deal with disappointment? Do you wallow? Or do you pick your ass up from the floor ASAP?

this post is so timely for me. we've been gettin through a lot and some times i tend to dwell with what ifs, this post reminds me that there is no use with crying over spilled milk, move on and just look at the brighter side. this helps me feel much better today. thank you ms. liz :)
Super love the girly look! Honestly, I try my best not to wallow in despair... but if the situation becomes unbearable, what I do is I cry and let it all out until I no longer feel any pain. Afterwards, I continue making myself busy, to distract myself. Lately, what I do is to play around with my makeup and its endless possibilities. It is quite effective, as I feel happy and proud about each look that I create. One time, I posted a photo with a caption "FOTD 101212: Out of Boredom and Depression..." (http://instagram.com/p/Qr9buvoZVT/) and FB friends responded that I didn't look depressed at all! Hahaha! I think it is best for us to let go once in a while. It will surely keep us sane. ^__^
You're an outburst of pink (or lavender heh)!
Wow, you really wore it! :D It looks so dainty and pretty on you! Very flattering ;D And I like that belt! I love anything that has roses on it, or anything with floral designs, and that belt added some beauty to your demure get-up. By the way, remember your Regatta blouse that I was raving about? The blue one with birds printed on it? I dropped by Regatta at Eastwood Mall, and it was on sale! Apparently, as all sale goes, they were out of bigger sizes. :(
Anyway, I love it! You remind me of a retro Barbie doll! :D
So pretty! I super love your outfit at the event :D
Awww. You look adorable here Ms. Liz :)
hi liz, love love love the heels! forgive my poor eyesight, but what color are they exactly? i've been looking for nude heels with chunky heels forever (my feet just cannot abide by sky high, stick thin heels that trip me over), and they look just right. do they come in other colors, too?
oh, and i love love love the ring, too.
all in all a perfect ensemble. =)
Oh my! I love your shoes!!! :D They seem too big for you, though.
@Lian @Nadine @Tricia thanks guys!
@Jen aww, i hope everything brightens up soon!
@Angelamhiere I love the look, esp the eyes! <3 You're right we should also let go too but that should be a last resort, not the first.
@Jean I try! Lol
@Kaye Whhhat sale na agad? I thought it's new. Psssh. Try mo in Regatta Glorietta 3, I think I saw a large when I went.
@Abbykins It's a sort of blush nude! Not sure if it's still available though, I think I got it on sale last time. Maybe a month or two ago? Anyhoots thanks! :D
@Aviva Haha, a little. Walang size 5 when I bought it.
well if im disappointed .. i shop.. its like buying my sadness instead of getting angry.. hahaha sometimes it works. but i think letting go of emotion once in a while is refereshing but not to the point that u can offend someone... anyhoo wrinkles may come if u stress urself because of that hehehe ...
oh liz that look is so cutee... so girly...
THOSE SHOES! Where from? <3
Optimism is a very powerful tool to have. That's why Blue Lanterns (Hope) can power-up Green Lanterns (Willpower) to way beyond their usual capacity. :) /comicreference
For me though, I'm usually very wary of new things and prospects. I start off super pessimistic and I try to think of the worst possible scenario from the get go. With that image in mind, I try my absolute utmost best to not let the worst happen. Then if the bad stuff happens, I can easily shrug it off and move on because at one point I have thought of this possibility and have already steeled myself.
@Ms. Liz- Yup, sale na siya, 20% off. Pero extra small na lang available. I even asked to check their stock, pero sabi wala na raw talaga. Oh well. I will check Glorietta 3 the next time I go there. :)
hi! i'm not a basher, but actually a fan, so please dont't get me wrong. i just think you kind of look a little ridiculous with that bow on your head. it seems too pa-cute for your age.
@Nicole Forever 21! Well that's a safe way to deal w/ things.
@A fan Hi! Haha you know to be honest I probably won't wear that bow outside of really girly events. Or if I will probably with a less cute outfit. The context of that look is this: I was off to a very pink, very girly party by Pinkbox. So of course I had to dress in theme since I organized it myself! Hence the very cute look. :)
And hey thanks for letting me know what you thought of it. ;)
love the shoes! :)
it's quite hard to deal with disappointments, especially if it's a hard blow. Admirable that you handle them positively..wish it's also that easy for me :) I do tend to wallow and be bitter for a while,,okay, more than a while, hehe :)
If it's something that I feel I can't share with others, I cry..and pray..work wonders for me :)
Good for you ate! I usually think about my problems A LOT. Then I reason out everything possible about the topic inside my head before I talk about it with someone who knows me very well. It helps na I think about it a beforehand, kasi nakikita ko muna yung things na hindi ko dapat sabihin out of anger or too much emotions. Only downside, I get really emotional alone. Pero okay narin siguro. Things can only get better when you're down. :)
You look so cute and girly, Ms. Liz :)
