Stila In The Moment Palette

"It only takes a moment for your eyes to meet, and then, your heart knows in a moment you will never be alone again," says that song from Hello, Dolly! It's one of my favorites, something I hum randomly or even wake up to in my head. Does it mean that I believe in love at first sight? Nah, it's way more complicated than that. However I do believe that there's a point when you realize that you would very much like to spend the rest of your life with someone. It only takes a moment.

Aaaand segue to makeup. The Stila In The Moment Palette (P1,800 at Stuff In Style) is inspired by the moments that shape our lives. I love the eyeshadow colors since they're well rounded, plum and purple with gold, bronze, and other supporting colors -  these are always flattering on Asian skin. You can do an quick day look or a heavy smoky eye with these combination of colors. You also get a non-smudging eyeliner in the package.

Here's a quick rundown of the pros and cons of this palette!

What I love about the product

  • The eyeshadows are pigmented, smooth, and easy to blend with each other.
  • I love the loosely coordinated colors with flashes of rose beige and gold. They're perfect! The dusky colors are quite sophisticated and perfect with morena skin (specifically, although they go with anything). The darker colors can be used as eyeliner, just use a wet lining brush.

  • Comes with an eye pencil that stays put and is a gorgeous shade of shimmery plum. Again, it matches with the colors in the palette.
  • 10 colors for P1,800? Not bad. Some palettes have colors you won't really use, but I see myself using up all these shades for different looks.
  • Comes with a small booklet that shows how best to mix and match the eyeshadows. You don't have to follow it to the letter of course but it's handy to have around.

TOP ROW: Instinct (shimmery white), Impulse (lilac), Glance (violet with blue specks), Improvise (smoky plum), Catalyst (shimmery charcoal)

BOTTOM ROW: Desire (matte pinkish beige), Wonder (rose champagne), Spontaneous (gold), Whim (bronze), Captivate (rusty plum)

What I don't like about the product

  • I was expecting at least a plastic compact. This palette is housed in cardboard - thick but it feels hollow. It's also bulky and doesn't have a mirror. I wouldn't be bringing this out of the house for sure.
  • Eyeshadow fallout is a problem if you don't watch it. So tap out the brush before applying the powder! If you see specks on your skin, just brush it off with a fan brush.

Recommendations

The Stila In The Moment Palette is made for the shimmer and color lovers out there. The shades are well-selected and versatile. I imagine that this is perfect for date looks, in particular - which reminds me, I should make a date look tutorial soon!

As with any eyeshadow, use a primer to intensify and prolong the colors. :)

Verdict

Love it. I don't mind not being able to bring it around as I'm infatuated with the colors. Definitely a must-try if you're into these sort of shades and love a good smoky eye.

You can purchase other Stila products from Stuff In Style.

I have the "In the Light" palette and it is incredible. Was really considering "In the Garden" but I tried the shades at a Stila counter and "In the Light" was the clear winner, even if I already have tons of neutral shades. I agree that the packaging could be better and that there should be a mirror, but I'm still pretty impressed by the value. :)

This palatte's housing reminds me of an eye shadow I got from The Face Shop a few years back. Its sad to hear though this one didn't have a mirror to it, considering that this on is from Stila. :( Anyway, I'm excited for your date look tutorial!:)

I've heard a lot about Stilla. The colours are simply lovely. I love the purple one (Glance), especially.

I love the colors! I could see myself using each and every one of these, too. I could probably live with just this palette alone. Haha. I just might get one.:)

Nice segue haha I haven't heard that Hello Dolly! song so I looked for it on YouTube. Very romantic :) Anyway, this palette is a good combination of nude and smokey eye colors! Pretty good if you consider the affordable price :) Also, I've a few tips on how to shoo away the eyeshadow fallout. Either 1) Put some loose powder on the area below your eyes where the eyeshadow fallout usually lands. When you brush the loose powder off, the fallout goes with it; or, 2) place a tissue on the area below your eyes where the eyeshadow fallout lands so the tissue catches it. The second technique is a bit tricky to do since you'll be busy working on your eyeshadow application while holding the tissue in place. Some eyeshadow guards are also sold out there (mostly on online shops), but I find them expensive. :| Great review and product shots!

The colors are really nice and sophisticated (something I look for in shimmer eye shadow) and true that they're a smart buy for P1800. Suits many different looks. Excited to try and sure my sister would love this! She's morena and looks gorgeous with shimmer and smokey eyes! ♥

I'm really liking the shades the came with the palette, they are all wearable and it's something that you can wear from day to night... you look gorgeous liz ^_^

Looks like another addition to my Christmas wishlist! hihi! I love the colors, and I love how they are not too glittery. They do have that shiny pearl-like look on your eyes, and matte eyeshadows look more natural in my opinion, but they look gorgeous.

Again, I want this! Thank you for this Ms. Liz! :D

Very pretty! I just dont get it why Stila is so expensive here in the Philippines eh sa States ang mura nya. Sana Ms. Liz, you will post a tutorial on Holiday eye make ups, I think palettes like this can be utilized really well during the Christmas season, all the parties and the gathering! :)

I have that one. Bilib talaga ako sa STILA in the Moment eyeshadow palette kasi I've worn the smoky shades early morning for breakfast at Dusit Thani before 7 am then we went shopping sa Greenbelt and had lunch, then went back to the hotel, took a siesta, woke up before dinner and my eyeshadows were still there. Hindi man lang nag-fade or nag-crease. And hindi nag-transfer yung kulay sa white pillow na ginamit ko. Super pigmented din yung mga shadows.
