Inspired by Karla

Have you guys ever come across a fashion blog called Karla's Closet? It's amazing! I love Karla's sensible, modern style that's far from boring since she always incorporates romance, whimsy, and vintage into her looks. Aside from her fashion sense, I love her makeup! She doesn't wear that much actually. I just like her signature looks: dark blood red lips (which compelled me to get NYX Dark Cherry) and nude lips with barely there eye makeup.

This time, I saw something different on her: pale lips with smoky eyes. Nothing new but I love the whole "thrown-together", effortless feel of the makeup.

I liked it so much that I decided to cop the look. It's super easy! You can do this in less than 10 minutes. You just need two eyeshadow colors; although you can technically do with one (black) I want something a tiny bit more polished.

Are you ready? Here's what I did!

Step 1: Do the ground work. Prime your face and brows. For this look, I used: Revlon Beyond Natural concealer, Ellana Caramel Latte mineral foundation and Ellana Espresso Con Panna finishing powder.

Step 2: Pat on black matte or semi-matte eyeshadow on the lid. I used Urban Decay's Oil Slick eyeshadow.

Step 3: Swipe a matte light brown eyeshadow on the crease. Ideally it should be just slightly darker than your skin tone. The purpose of this eyeshadow is not to show, but just to blend out the uneven and harsh edges of the black eyeshadow.

Step 4: Finish up the eyes. Curl your lashes, apply mascara and smudge the lower lid with black eyeshadow. I used the new Revlon Grow Luscious mascara on my lashes.

Step 5: Apply contouring powder on the sides of the face and a bit of blush on your cheeks. I used the Revlon Bayond Natural Blush & Bronzer duo in Plumberry. It doesn't show in the pics, but it's really pretty! I'll review it soon.

Step 6: The nude lips! I used Revlon Colorburst in Soft Nude. Lovely salmon pink color.

Aaand here's the finished look. It's a smokey look that's not in-your-face and can be worn during the day without overwhelming. It's perfect for the rainy weather too!

Oooh! Lovely, lovely!

I've always been a fan of Karla's Closet. She's classy and funky and lovely, all at the same time. This look is definitely wearable and subtle that I don't think people from my workplace would have any adverse reactions to it. Hee. I'll try it one of this days.

I like this post so much! in fact I cop this look last week but I didn't know I have to swipe a matte light brown eyeshadow on the crease! yun pala yung missing piece ko kaya it appeared darker on my eyes.

i love this look! to achieve the look i use the black eyeshadow from nyx runway collection versus.. it's really pigmented.. Revlon colorburst soft nude is a really nice nude lipcolor to match the dark eyeshadow & to add a little shine i top it off with nyx megashine lipgloss in juicy pink... lovely! nice post Ms. Liz :)

Is it okay to use this style if I have slight dark circles under my eyes?

hi Karen! Certainly. some makeup artists pa nga line the lower lid for maximum smokiness, hehe. but just be sure to prime your lower lids with something heavy duty like the Urban Decay Primer Potion. you dont want to get raccoon eyes, which will just emphasize your bags!
