Our work-from-home setup has really changed the way we work. Being on-call even during the wee hours of the night can be unkind to our skin. Our usual skincare products like our cleansers and moisturizers, although important, aren’t enough to address our skin concerns. It was more because I’ve been using pretty much the same makeup brushes in the last two years and just wanted a change! Also I’m always on the lookout for a good deal, for diamonds in the rough. And so here we are.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Dermalogica, but I haven’t tried it until only a couple of months ago. I’ve always thought that the brand was a bit under the radar despite being around for some time now, with not much to offer my informed skincare routine. How wrong I was! I’m glad the Dermalogica PH team reached out and asked if I wanted to do a skin consultation. At that time I was struggling with flaky skin and blemishes (the former new, the latter not) so they recommended two products for me to try out.

Part of our “new normal”-acquired skills is learning to DIY things that we usually outsource – manicures, pedicures, foot spas, and facials. I also know some who have braved cutting their own hair learning from TikTok tutorials. While I still leave the scissors to the professionals, hair coloring at home is something that I have learned to embrace.

The older I get, the drier my skin becomes. Is this also true for you? The Belo Pandemic Effect ad released last night touched a raw nerve among us women. It showed a fit, pretty person slowly get hairy, large, and pimply as the pandemic dragged on, with an invitation from Belo in the end to come give them a visit. It was the height of insensitivity, which Belo apologized for, but I think it’s worth a conversation because at the core of it is truth. This has happened to all of us, in varying degrees.

How obsessed are you with washing your hands and body on a scale of one to ten? I would say I’m pretty up there. I’m not yet - I think - up to the point of being truly obsessive-compulsive about it, but I probably wash my hands at least 15 times a day. Aside from pandemic reasons, I have a very fluffy dog who is an instant dirt magnet. So washing for me is up there on my list of daily priorities.
