What's in my easy peasy Zoom makeup kit

I saw an Instagram post of my friend, Dinna Vasquez, with the caption, “Zoom kit for when you’re asked to turn on your video.” It was brilliant. I instantly commented, saying that I need to come up with my own.

Having a Zoom Makeup Kit at the ready eliminates the stress in deciding what makeup to put on for your online meetings. Trust me, I’ve been there. There was a time when I was informed about a meeting just three minutes prior. I wasted the entire three minutes rummaging through my lipstick stash. And yes, I ended up attending the meeting with no makeup on.

To avoid that from happening again and with the reminder of my friend Dinna, I decided to curate my own Zoom Makeup Kit.

I started with the makeup pouch. Realizing how a Zoom meeting can happen at any time during my work day, I wanted a makeup pouch that would instantly put me in a good mood. I ended up with my NARS Studio 54 color-changing sequin pouch.

Now, time for the makeup. Given that I have other things to worry about for my upcoming meeting, I want to keep my makeup as easy as possible. For my base, I just use the Sunnies Face Perfector. The blur side mattifies what needs to be mattified, while the balm side highlights what needs to be highlighted. Of course, I keep my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer when I need a quick cover-up.

For my eyes and cheeks, I rely on the NARS Multiple in Orgasm and the Issy & Co. Créme Blush in Stunner. The key, really, is to focus on multifunctional products. You never know how much time you have to put on makeup for your meeting, so it’s best to have products that serve more than just one purpose. I can even use both products on my lips!

On days when I lack sleep, I make sure to curl my lashes and apply a generous coat or two of the NARS Climax Mascara. Doing so instantly opens my eyes and makes me look awake. Thank goodness for makeup, right?

Finally, my favorite part - lipsticks! This is where I change it up every now and then. Sometimes, before going to bed, I would swap a lipstick or two in my Zoom Makeup Kit to mix things up. Currently, these five (Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Matte Lippie in Under the Sheets, NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita, Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color in Telluride, Happy Skin Lip Mallow in Iced Coffee, and the NARS Afterglow Lip Balm) are in my kit.

When it comes to lipsticks, I usually stick to the neutrals because they are easier to apply, they can be used as blush and eyeshadow, and they do not draw unnecessary attention during meetings. Hmm, should I experiment with a bold red lip and see what happens?

The secret to curating a Zoom Makeup Kit is to gather easy and multifunctional products that you know will never fail you. Now, what if you don’t have any time at all to do your makeup before your meeting? Wear a smile. It will always look good. Also, we need it more than ever.
