New lash salon alert: Tokyo Glam offers an authentic Japanese lash experience

I am no newbie when it comes to eyelash extensions. I’ve already tried a number of different lash salons in the Metro, even the expensive ones, but everything seemed to just have left an okay mark on me - until I got to try Tokyo Glam’s Glam Lash.

Tokyo Glam is not your usual lash salon. More than the beautiful, feminine interiors, Tokyo Glam prides itself on bringing Japan’s state-of-the-art glam experience. They specialize in lashes and nails using only authentic Japanese products and techniques with personnel highly-trained by Japanese lash and nail experts.

I recently visited the newest Tokyo Glam branch in Mitsukoshi Mall, BGC and tried out Glam Lash (starts at P2,150), the salon’s special spin on the usual eyelash extensions. Glam Lash is a two-in-one eyelash extension procedure wherein the natural lashes are sandwiched by the lash extensions. Since the lash extensions are attached on the top and bottom of the natural lashes, Glam Lash creates a more natural look and it also typically lasts longer.

The Japanese are known to be detail-intensive so it is no surprise that they are same with lash extensions. Tokyo Glam PH’s lash artists are trained to carefully attach the delicate extensions on one’s natural lashes to prevent pulling, clumping, and breaking.

During my visit, I was lucky to be attended to by Suzuka, a renowned Japanese eyelash artist, and got my full-blown eyelash extension experience. The entire process, from consultation to the actual application, takes more than an hour which I didn’t mind, really. Believe me, that was the most comfortable and the most relaxing lash extension experience I’ve had thus far. I hardly felt anything - no pressure, no pain, and no irritation!

I went with a sexy yet still natural-looking set. I love how subtle it is - not too shiny and not too black - so I was able to achieve that “I woke up like this” look I was aiming for!

When they say it’s lightweight, they mean it! The extensions are so feathery-light that I always forget that I have them on. How long they last depends on the upkeep. For someone who isn’t great with that, I was very happy that it still looks fab on its second week. Some strands fell off, but hey, that’s expected. I wasn’t that careful so the fact that my lashes looked nice for two weeks is a feat!

Week 2

More than the Glam Lash, Tokyo Glam PH also offers different lash and brow services like Keratin Lash Lift, Volume Lash, Brow Lamination, waxing, and threading. They also have Gel Nails, their pièce de résistance.

I was pressed for time during my visit but I would surely be back to get myself Tokyo Glam PH’s highly-requested gel nail art! Come visit if you’re looking for an authentic Japanese lash experience in Manila.

Tokyo Glam PH can be found in Ayala Malls Manila Bay, SOMA, BGC, and Mitsukoshi Mall, BGC.
