Staff Picks: Our HG Eyeshadow Palettes

When it comes to doing our eye makeup, most of us at Project Vanity prefer to reach for palettes rather than pick out a bunch of singles. Some even cough up a good part of their beauty budgets for a trusty, Holy Grail-material eye shadow palette that answers all their needs! Whether they’re from the drugstore or high street brands, we just love how these versatile palettes make our eye looks a breeze to do, and how they can be used for other things, too! Here’s what we’re currently loving!

Liz: I like picking up a little bit of this and that from different palettes but my most-used one currently is the Tartelette In Bloom Palette. It has everything I need for a complete look! The colors are super pigmented and a joy to blend as well. This is what I grab when I don't want to think too much about my eyeshadow look, or if I need backup for tricky colors!

Katsy: While I love drooling over the prettiest eye shadow palettes, I find that I get overwhelmed when presented with so many choices. I'm almost always in a rush when doing my makeup so I'm happy to be able to create a quick, polished look in just 5 minutes with Happy Skin's Glam Squad Eyeshadow Duo by Mickey See. It's my current go-to palette for everyday as well as for traveling. It's handy, gorgeously-packaged, and extremely pigmented. I'm super tempted to collect the other three Glam Squad palettes!

Gett: I'm actually not a big eye shadow user because I always find that my oily lids like to eat up whatever eye shadow I put on them (huhu). That said, I'm still very loyal to my Urban Decay Naked Palette. Maybe it's because it's my first big makeup splurge, but I always lug it around with me when I travel. I'm happy with the colors, the pigmentation, and how blendable they are. I do wish it had more mattes and that the glitter shadows aren't so glittery, but I love it all the same!

Marielle: I like beautifully curated palettes that combine matte and shimmer/metallic finishes, ideally in earth tones. I just know I'll get the most use out of them. My current go-to is the Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Palette because it checks all the boxes and has great texture and pigmentation. It does require primer for better longevity, though. Bonus: Their shadows smell like vanilla!

Angela: I've recently fallen in love with using eye shadow palettes because of Youtube tutorials and because of their portability! Before investing, I wanted to try out something more affordable so I got W7 In The Buff for about P600 from an online seller. I love it so much because it helped me learn how to do a half nude smoky eye. The colors are gorgeous and are almost similar to Urban Decay's Naked 2. It's full of shimmers though, so I want to try out something with more mattes. I'm currently waiting for two more palettes this December and in January so I'm stoked!

Sam: I love Anastasia Beverly Hills' Modern Renaissance Palette because I can do my whole face with the gorgeous shades, and do both neutral and adventurous looks. The quality of the shadows is excellent and the colors are curated so well. Definitely a must-have!

Karla: As much as I love my Zoeva Cocoa Blends Palette, I will always go back to my first love, the original NAKED palette by Urban Decay. It has the perfect mix of shimmers and mattes, warm-toned shadows and cool-toned ones, too. The pigmentation is amazing and it's a dream to blend! Creep can even double up as an eyeliner, and I sometime use Naked to contour my nose, which makes this palette a total standout for me! I feel like it's the "one-stop shop" of eye shadow palettes and is definitely a staple in mine!

Claire: TheBalm Voyage Vol. 2 is my go-to palette. It covers all the basic shades I use, plus a couple of fun pops of color. I also find using the same highlight and contour color for both eyes and cheeks can really pull a look together!

Charlie: My favorite palette of all time is Etude House’s Rose Flowering Eyes but it’s limited edition, so I tried finding something that I can alternate with it. At the moment, it’s Ever Bilena’s Pink Eyeshadow Palette. Although it’s not everyone’s cup of tea as five of the six shades are shimmery, I love it because they’re so pigmented and easy to blend. The set of colors also make it easy to do day and nighttime eye looks, and the colors are so pretty.
