Smoother skin in a bottle: A review of the Estée Lauder Perfectionist Pro

If you asked me what my favorite luxury brand is, I would answer Estée Lauder in a heartbeat! The Advanced Night Repair wonderfully balances my oily skin, the Double Wear foundation is one of my favorite foundations ever, and the Pure Color Love lipsticks are the perfect luxury lipsticks to start with. The bar has been set pretty high so when I started my trial of the Estée Lauder Perfectionist Pro Rapid Firm+Lift Treatment, I honestly wondered if it would live up to my expectations.

The serum claims to give skin a more lifted, youthful look that is radiant, hydrated, and smooth. It claims to be ideal for lifting and firming, reducing lines and wrinkles, and addressing uneven texture and tone, including pores. It has a custom-designed peptide, Acetyl Hexapeptite-8 that helps skin boost its natural collagen. The formula is also currently patented, which intrigued me even more.

It also contains lactic acid, a form of alpha hydroxy acid. Lactic acid has larger molecules and therefore cannot penetrate the skin as deeply as other AHAs, so it’s a good choice for those with sensitive skin. As someone who’s tried and used A LOT of stronger acids, I was a bit skeptical that this milder formula could do something my other acids couldn’t.

At first pump, I immediately noticed that the texture felt silicone-like, since dimethicone is the second listed ingredient. The serum is an off-white color with very fine flecks of shimmer, but isn’t noticeable once spread on the skin. It absorbs very quickly, and is lightweight and non-greasy, so I have no problems using it twice a day as instructed. There is a very, very faint scent so those with sensitive noses won’t have issues with the fragrance of this product. I find that two pumps is enough for my face and neck because a little goes a long way.

After using this just twice, I already noticed a difference in my skin! Clogged pores is my main skin concern since my skin is extremely oily. Before starting on the Perfectionist Pro, I had a stubborn patch of whiteheads on my upper cheek that my CosRX BHA liquid couldn’t remove. After using the EL serum a second time, I was surprised that the problem area had gotten much smoother! A closer inspection showed that I still had whiteheads in the area, but they had definitely lessened.

I haven’t see any changes in my skin tone because I don’t have dark spots right now, and I don’t yet have fine lines outside my eye area. What I did notice after two weeks of using the Perfectionist Pro is a big difference in the texture of my skin! My skin has gotten much smoother overall because my pores are clearer. I still get small zits, but I noticed that they never get bigger and dry up quickly.

Once again, Estée Lauder has impressed me! This bottle costs a pretty penny (P4,700 for 30ml and P7,590 for 50ml) but if you have concerns regarding skin texture like fine lines or pores, then this one may be worth the splurge. Keep in mind that when it comes to skincare, the saying YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) applies, meaning that results will differ from person to person.

Have you tried Estée Lauder skincare? What have been your experiences so far, and what are your favorite picks?
