Swatches + Review: The Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Manila

The new Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Manila (P850) is designed to be the ultimate nude color for Filipinas. It was created in collaboration with Glamourbox, which is the local distributor of the famous American brand. Ofra has collabs with Nikkie Tutorials, Manny MUA, and Kathleen Lights, all of which are heavy hitters in the international beauty scene. To have one with a homegrown brand is definitely one for the books!

I really like the formula of the Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick. I've had a few tubes of it before and I find that it's a zero-fuss liquid lipstick compared to similar brands. I don't need lip liner to get it even around the edges, plus it only takes one layer to get full opacity. It doesn't fully set, which makes it feel much less drying on the lips and closer to feeling like a bullet lipstick. It wears well during the day as it fades evenly on me; I give it around four to five hours. I'll still need to retouch after a meal.

Manila is a gorgeous albeit tricky color. It's a nude matte with a strong mauve tone when worn on the lips, but swatches more as a warm brown on skin. It's weird! The first time I wore it, I had to cover it with a warmer, deeper lipstick to tone it down. It renders quite pale - as in zombie pale - on my medium yellow skin so I thought that I wouldn't be able to wear it without mixing it with something else. Thankfully, I was wrong, because it looks great as long as the rest of my makeup coordinates with its mauve tone.

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Manila

In this look, I wore a simple taupe and mauve smoky eye; I actually just used two shades here. I applied a taupey bronze all over my lids, then dropped a shimmery light mauve in the middle to create dimension. The blush is a cool pink, again to match with the lipstick. I think the end result is stunning! Ofra Manila looks fantastic when worn this way.

However, it seems to be the kind of shade that looks different on everybody. It looks like a cocoa brown on Gretchen here, which kinda blew my mind. It is so far from how it looks on me! It's best to swatch this on your lips before making a decision as it can really depend on your unique skin and lip color.

If you already have it and need to warm it up to suit your other looks, you can layer it on top of a warm lip pencil like the Ofra Lip Liner in Baby Doll or mix it in with another lipstick.

Try the Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Manila if you love wearing smoky eyes and cooler-toned shades. It's a tricky nude, but can look fabulous in the right conditions. Let me know what you think of this new Ofra release!

Ofra is available at SM Beauty and Watsons (Makati, Mall of Asia, Aura, North EDSA, and The Block), Landmark Department Store (Makati and Trinoma), Metro Alabang, and Purebeauty. It is also available at Glamourbox.ph.
