Why I wear perfume before sleeping (and why you should too!)

Being on quarantine for months on end has surely brought us to develop new habits. In my case, my beauty routine has become slightly more elaborate with the addition of new gadgets - things that I didn’t have time for before! I’m also experimenting with more new products than usual because I’m no longer afraid of a breakout I would want to conceal with makeup later on. That’s the beauty of staying at home isn’t it? There’s no need to fuss as much about what the rest of the world sees.

I’ve also taken to wearing perfume at home, usually right before I sleep. Is that weird? I think it makes perfect sense. I get to enjoy my favorite scent on my pajamas and pillowcase, and this helps me to relax as I listen to the Calm app before sleeping. This helps me drift to sleep easier and allows me to let go of that clench I’ve been holding on to all day. If that’s not one of the best ways to use perfume, I don’t know what is! A few spritzes make all the difference.

Recently Jo Malone sent the new limited edition Waterlily Cologne (P4,400/30ml and P8,750/100ml on Rustans.com) and it’s my current go-to fragrance at night. It’s a beautiful blend of neroli (top), waterlily (heart), and white musk (base) that’s both soothing and refreshing. This smells crisp and green with the neroli top note then develops into a warm floral before settling on a clean musk base. This is part of the limited edition Spring Blossoms collection, which features three other scents: Osmanthus Cologne, Silk Blossom Cologne, and Yuja Cologne.

I love that I can still smell the Waterlily Cologne on my pajamas and bed when I wake up, so it also starts my day right! It might seem a small thing, enjoying a fragrance we like, but it helps with maintaining a positive mood during the day. It’s a luxury that I intend to keep having for as long as I can. Have you been wearing perfume? What’s your favorite?

Jo Malone is available in Rustans.com.
