The Hyaloo Promise: Hydration without the sticky feel and K-Beauty without the price tag

This story is brought to you by Hyaloo / Photography by Perkin Gotohio

There was a time when the word “moisturizer” was not part of the average Filipina’s vocabulary, what with the heat and humidity we deal with on a daily basis. We believed that moisturizer made us more oily, and it used to be true - most moisturizers even just 10 years ago were heavy, sticky stuff. But it’s already 2023. Now moisturizers are incredibly lightweight and have more benefits aside from hydration!

That’s where Hyaloo comes in. It’s a local brand but the products are actually formulated and manufactured in Korea, so you’re sure you’re getting the best of K-Beauty at Filipino-friendly prices. Hyaloo’s star ingredient is hyaluronic acid, and they include four types (macro and micro molecule-sized) to boost skin hydration into deeper layers. All Hyaloo products are alcohol-free, paraben-free, non-comedogenic, cruelty-free, and vegan.

There are two ranges to choose from. The Aqua Plus line utilizes Hydra-Ceramide technology, which is a unique combination of four types of Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides, and seven plant extracts (such as cica, Japanese Knotweed Root, and Rosemary, to name a few). This range is best for dry, dehydrated, maturing, and dull-looking skin.

The Glow Boost line, on the other hand, features their Hydra-Vitamin technology. It has a combination of their four types of HA, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide), and seven plant extracts. Glow Boost is best for those who deal with acne and seek to even out their skin tone over time.

Trying the line, I’m happy to report that the brand really focused on delivering ultra lightweight textures that leave no sticky feel even in this heat. The Deep Hydrating Gels are clear, like your typical aloe vera gels, and goes on nicely. The Water Cream reminds me of the emulsions of luxury brands. It’s white, kinda watery, and also feels hydrating without any heaviness. The Low-pH Cleansing Toner is a post-wash toner for an extra cleanse + prep for the moisturizer.

I like that the products just have a mild, clean scent that doesn’t overpower. This is very much like what you can expect from K-Beauty formulations.

So yes, with everything less than P350 each, you shouldn’t be sleeping on this line! Try this if you’re on a budget and want to start with more hydrating skincare that doesn’t feel uncomfortable.
