Five guys share their holy grail skincare products

It's 2020 yet I still know so many guys who think that having a skincare routine is for women. They tell me that all they do is wash their faces with soap. Little do they know that that's a skincare routine in itself! Guys, you're lucky if soap alone works for you. However, if you have skin concerns, then you might want to consider expanding your skincare routine.

Yes, skincare can be very intimidating. Sometimes, I think guys are apprehensive not just because they think having a skincare routine is for women, but also because they do not know where to start.

To save you the time and effort, I took the liberty of asking four of my guy friends about their skincare routines. I even went the extra mile and asked them about their skin concerns and holy grail products.

Despite having a normal skin type, James shared how he easily gets pimples. When he eats peanuts and deep fried food, he already knows what’s going to happen the next day. Knowing that helped him in deciding on what skincare products to buy. Out of everything he has tried so far, it’s the Nivea Creme he cannot live without. “I can’t sleep if I don’t have it on. With the Nivea Creme, I wake up the next day with instant dewy skin.”

Hmm, I wonder what Vince’s holy grail product is. I’m not going to lie. I got jealous when I found out that Vince only uses one skincare product! Having oily skin, Vince tried several products before. Unfortunately, they all dried his skin out. The one thing all the products had in common? Alcohol. Knowing what he had to avoid, he found his ride or die with the Nature Republic Africa Bird Moisturizer, which combats his oily skin and lessens his dark spots.

Working as a frontliner, Kim usually arrives home tired and sleepy, leaving not much time for his complete skincare routine. When time is not on his side, he goes straight to The Face Shop All-In-One Treatment, which is his holy grail skincare product. With a normal skin type, Kim’s main skincare concerns are to keep his skin healthy and lighten his dark spots. Responding to how his skin is like after wearing a face mask almost all day, Kim advised, “Moisturize your face to lessen the friction between your face and the face mask.”

It’s clear that Miggy loves Danni Parcca. Honestly, I find it really amusing when someone sticks to just one brand. After all, skincare is personal and when you find a brand that works for you, you stick to it. Having sensitive skin and eczema-prone skin, Miggy never skips the Gentle Night Toner since it has triple hydroxy acids.

See why I was jealous of Vince’s one step skincare routine? Well, it didn’t surprise me that I have the longest skincare routine among the five us. I just love testing products. Growing up, I would always watch my mom do her skincare routine. It’s because of her that my holy grail products are Vaseline and sunscreen. Despite having oily skin, I’m lucky that I rarely break out, which I inherited from my Syrian dad. My main concerns are maintenance and keeping oil at bay.

So far, I’m very pleased with my current skincare routine. However, as I’ve mentioned, I love testing products. I change my skincare routine regularly, which allows me to compare and recommend. Now, since there are so many products out there to try, I need your help on what to try next! What are your holy grail skincare products?
