Main Character Blush: Trying Out Chu Chu Beauty’s Sweetheart Cheek Flush

Cute, heart-shaped packaging has become a signature look for local makeup darling, Chu Chu Beauty. True to form, their newest blush release follows the same charming aesthetic, and yes, it’s just as adorable in person. What makes it even more enticing? The price tag won’t make your wallet cry. As someone who loves a good blush and appreciates thoughtful packaging, I couldn’t resist checking them out for myself.

The Chu Chu Beauty Sweetheart Cheek Flush (P299) is a whipped cream-to-powder blush that promises a smooth, natural finish with a featherlight feel on the skin. What sets it apart is its skin-loving ingredients. Infused with Olive Squalane, Vitamin E, and Chamomile, this blush doesn’t just add color; it also helps hydrate and calm the skin while you wear it.

Out of the five available shades, I have Bliss, Flutter, and Serene in my collection. According to the shade guide Chu Chu Beauty released, these three lean towards the cooler end of the spectrum, with Serene coming off as the most neutral among them. I love how versatile the formula is - you can keep it sheer for a subtle flush or build it up for more impact, depending on your mood or look for the day.

T-B: Swatches in Bliss, Flutter, Serene

The Sweetheart Cheek Flush was marketed as "perfect for a main character moment", and Chu Chu Beauty really committed to the theme. Each shade comes with a cinema-inspired description, complete with an iconic movie and character match to capture its vibe. Bliss, a playful bubblegum pink, channels Elle Woods from Legally Blonde (2001); Flutter, a flirty cherry red, embodies Regina George from Mean Girls (2004); and Serene, a soft coral, is all about Mia Thermopolis from The Princess Diaries (2001).

In the photo below, I’m wearing Bliss on the left side and Serene on the right. Between fingers and a brush, I personally find that using a brush gives a better, more seamless finish. When I used my fingers, the product had a tendency to lift and become patchy, so a brush is the way to go for that smooth, airbrushed effect.

Chu Chu Beauty's TikTok also released a short video showing how shades can be combined to make new named colors. From the ones I have, I can combine Serene and Bliss to create Show Girl.

This is the combined blush. It’s my go-to when I want a bit more drama on the cheeks without going overboard. Wear time is pretty decent too; I get around 5 to 6 hours of noticeable color, and if I set it with a translucent loose powder, I can stretch that by another hour or two.

Overall, I’m quite happy with the Sweetheart Cheek Flush line. The shades complement my light-medium skin tone with neutral undertones really well. If you have a deeper complexion, you might need to build them up in layers, as the formula blends out to a soft finish pretty quickly - but the pigment is definitely there if you take your time.

The Chu Chu Beauty Sweetheart Cheek Flush is available online at Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok.
