Chu Chu Beauty has always leaned cute, sweet, and feminine, so the new Eye Don’t Play collection is a bit of a turn. The packaging is edgier, the names are cheekier, and the products themselves are built to last the whole day. It still has that main character energy the brand is known for, just a bolder version of it. There are two products in the collection so far: a liquid eyeliner and a mascara. I’ve been wearing both for a while now, so here’s how they held up.
The Chu Chu Beauty Eye Don’t Play Eye Am Precise Flick (P299) is an ultra-long wear liquid eyeliner with a micro flex tip for drawing precise lines. It has a bold matte finish, is designed to be sweat-resistant for up to 12 hours, and has Sodium Hyaluronate in the formula so it doesn’t feel drying on the lids. It comes in two shades, Taupe and Black.
I like this eyeliner. It doesn’t smudge on me as long as I don’t use my contact lens drops, which is a fair trade. The tip is flexible enough that you can do a thinner line or a thicker one depending on how much pressure you put in, so you don’t need a separate liner for a subtle day and a wing day. The shade I keep reaching for is Taupe. It gives just the right amount of definition without looking too dark the way Black can, and without going too brown the way most brown liners do when you’re after a natural, subtle look. It sits in that in-between that I didn’t know I needed. Black is best for more glam days since it’s properly dark, though if you’re used to it, a thinner line works fine for everyday too. I’m hoping they add more shades later. A purple and a pastel pink feel very Chu Chu Beauty, don’t you think?
The Chu Chu Beauty Eye Don’t Play Eyeconic Mascara (P399) is meant to add lift and curl. The formula is infused with peptides for lash growth and is supposed to stay put without smudging or flaking for up to 12 hours. The wand has dual flex bristles, longer ones for lift and shorter ones for definition, plus a built-in precision comb to keep clumps away.
Wearing Chu Chu Beauty Eye Don’t Play Eyeconic Mascara in Black
I’ve been enjoying this one too. My lashes are stubborn and this does keep them lifted through the day. It looks better if I take my time curling my lashes first, since the Eyeconic Mascara coats them well and the curl holds instead of dropping after an hour. The result is a good balance of definition and volume rather than one or the other. I see myself wearing this on days when I want my eyes to pop a bit more, especially paired with the Eye Am Precise Flick liner. The two were clearly made to go together.
