Skincare Review: Testing out the GentleBright Technology of the new Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Line on my skin

I think of skincare as self-care. I like to pamper myself, and I make sure that the products I am using are doing the best they can for me. They must be well-researched, dermatologist-approved, and with great ingredients that will not irritate my skin! Enter the new Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Line – Cetaphil’s newly launched skincare line that promises to brighten skin with active ingredients that won’t irritate the skin.

My combination-dry skin is generally clear but I suffer from overall redness and uneven tone. There are dark areas where my eyeglasses normally rest and around the nose and mouth. My face can look dull at times and my pores get easily congested. Cetaphil has developed the GentleBright Technology to target most of these concerns. They combined Niacinamide (a well-tolerated ingredient that reduces dark spots, improves skin evenness, and improves appearance of aging skin) with Sea Daffodil (natural plant extract exclusively from greenhouse cultivation, and reduces the surface and appearance of dark spots) in order to come up with a gentle yet potent pairing. The best thing about this is that they extended the range to their body products so you can be #BrightAboutSkin on both our face and body.

The Routine: Body

I alternate between the Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Brightness Reveal Bar (P363/100g) and the Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Brightness Reveal Body Wash (P679/245ml) depending on which method of application I’m in the mood for. These two perform similarly to other Cetaphil bath products that I’m used to – gentle, non-drying, and thoroughly cleansing. The bonus is the brightening effect I’ve started to notice in specific areas particularly my elbows. They’re not completely lightened yet but there is a noticeable difference after more than a week’s use. My skin also never feels dry after taking a bath with either these two.

Following up with the Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Brightening Lotion (P1,035/245ml) prolongs the non-drying effect with the added moisturization. It is light and non-sticky which leaves a nice feeling on the skin. It should be noted though that both bath products (Bar and Body Wash) have fragrance while the Lotion is fragrance-free. I find the light scent pleasant and relaxing but do check if this is an issue for you.

The Routine: Face

After cleansing the face, I use the Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Brightness Refresh Toner (P725/150ml). I apply the toner with a cotton pad most days though I also just use my hands from time to time. I like that my skin feels refreshed after and that it does not feel stripping.

In the daytime, I use the Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Brightening Day Protection Cream with SPF 15 (P1,035/50g). This has got to be my least favorite in the line but only because I tend to over apply at times and the thickness of the Cream then requires some time to apply. When this happens, I’m reminded of the old sunscreen formulas that tend to be white and sticky. But when used sparingly, this Cream does the job well. A little goes a long way and the initial whiteness of the cream blends into the skin. My skin feels moisturized throughout the day and it wears ok under makeup. Though if you want a glowy base, you might want to add another moisturizer on top. The SPF 15 is a welcome bonus but the amount applied is definitely not enough to replace your sunscreen.

At night, I apply the Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Brightening Night Comfort Cream (P1,035/50g) after cleansing and toning. The Comfort Cream is described as “a skin-cushioning cream that helps brighten and even skin tone, without irritating or weakening the skin barrier.” As with the other products in the line, I didn’t get any irritation. And even without applying additional serums on top, my skin feels moisturized until morning.

The Verdict

Overall, I have a pleasant experience using the Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Line. I like the products which are sensitive-skin friendly and my skin looks healthy and subtly brightened. I can especially see the difference in the dark eyeglasses-caused marks on my nose and corners of my lips.  If I have to choose my top three though, it will be the Brightness Reveal Bar, the Brightening Lotion, and the Night Comfort Cream. And I do hope they add an eye cream! My under eyes definitely need some brightening and would love to experience Cetaphil’s GentleBright Technology as well.

Cetaphil is available in leading supermarkets and department stores. It is also available online on Shopee and Lazada.
