New from Canmake: Eye-Enhancing Essentials and a Skincare-Packed Cushion
Canmake is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and the festivities in the Philippines brought the party to Mitsukoshi BGC. Shoppers enjoyed a playful setup featuring a makeup gachapon, a mini-roulette, and a grand raffle draw with a P40,000 prize, all while browsing new and best-selling Canmake goodies.
To mark the milestone, Canmake also launched three new products focused on the eyes: one for brows, one for lashes, and one for the undereye area. All made in Japan, these releases blend function with that signature kawaii aesthetic the brand is known for. Whether you’re a long-time fan or new to Canmake, the anniversary lineup is a fun way to celebrate this beauty icon’s big year.
First in the anniversary lineup is the Canmake Styling Edge Eyebrow in 01 Natural Brown in 01 Natural Brown (P690 for 0.13g). This is a type of eyebrow pencil with a fine 0.8 mm tip that makes quick and easy brow hair drawing possible. It also has a built-in brow brush on the other end.
It’s relatively easy to use, though beginners may have to go through a bit of a learning curve because of the shape of the tip. The color pay-off is intense and really fills up your brows. 01 Natural Brown is too warm for me and my cool-toned grey hair, so the only other shade, 02 Ash Brown, might be a better fit.
Next is the Canmake Metalook Mascara Volume Look in V01 Black (P820 for 4g), a new volumizing take on the classic Metalook Mascara. The formula remains as reliable as ever, being resistant to water, sweat, and sebum, so it’s built to last through long days and humid commutes.
The key difference with this version is the brush. It comes with a wider metal comb that makes it easier to create that clustered, defined lash look. It only comes in one shade, black, but it delivers strong volume and hold in just a few swipes.

I’ve been using this non-stop since I got it as it gives such a natural effect, which is my favorite kind of look. It adds definition and volume to my stick-straight lashes while maintaining the curl all day. That’s a bit of a hard feat in this wet, hot, and humid weather we’ve been having lately, but if there’s a mascara that can get your lashes through it, it’s definitely a J-beauty one.
Last in the trio is the Canmake Plumpuku Coordinate Eyes Neo in N01 Shiratama Plumpuku (P730 for 1.4g), an under eye contouring palette. This is a dialed-up version of the original Plumpuku Coordinate Eyes, with a focus on being “Not Natural” as it’s designed to really intensify the look.
The N01 color palette is described as “beige with strong white tones,” featuring bolder shades, more intense shading, and a larger size of glitter and pearl particles. There’s only one color variant available for the Neo palette so far, but it’s a striking choice for those who want their aegyo sal to pop.

I personally don’t have much experience in contouring the under eye area, so I just followed the instructions on the packaging and used the double-ended tool that came with it. You can choose from the matte, glitter, or pearl powders to plump the undereye using the sponge applicator, then use the small angled brush to contour with the darkest shade.
Since I am (still) currently in my cushion era, I decided to include the Canmake Fit Glow Cushion in 02 Natural (P1,390 for 10g) in this mini review. This is meant to have a “dewily moist texture with a lustrous translucent finish” and is resistant to water, sweat, and sebum—ideal for daily wear in our humid weather.
It also boasts a skincare-forward formula, with 11 ingredients added for moisturizing and beautifying: six types of Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramide NP, Niacinamide, Retinol, Centella Asiatica Extract, and Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil.
There are only two shade options for this cushion. 02 isn’t an exact match for my skin tone, but I don’t think 01 would work either, as it’s supposedly even lighter. Liz has a great hack for that though—she shows how to use it as a brightening base in a recent TikTok video, and it looked really good on her.
Canmake has a recommended order for applying the Fit Glow Cushion using the teardrop-shaped puff: start from the cheeks, then move to the forehead and eye area, then the mouth area, leaving the nose area for last. I like how the cushion is amplified with skincare benefits, but I do wish they would expand the shade range to make it a more inclusive, go-to daily base. That said, it does work well to brighten the center of the face, just like Liz demonstrated, so I apply contour and bronzing powders on the sides to blend it out a bit, since shade 02 is closer to my skin tone than 01.
