A morena's honest review of the SNAILWHITE Icy Mask and CC Sunscreen

From a brand that we used to only see in Thailand, SNAILWHITE has become a staple in many a Filipino’s beauty routine. Launched in the Philippines just last year, their Whipp Soap has fast become a bestseller. We don’t recommend it as it has a pH level of 10 (way too high for cleansing!), but fellow PV girl Gett found their Snail Secretion Filtrate Moisture to be a great moisturizer option for oily skin, so I was very curious to try the Icy Mask and CC Sunscreen SPF50/PA+++ that the brand sent over.

The SNAILWHITE Icy Mask (P395 for a box of 6 packets with 7ml per packet) is actually an overnight mask. While I love my morena skin and have no interest in whitening, I was excited to try this because it claims to “brighten skin, reduce the appearance of redness and dark spots, tighten pores, and restore younger and firmer-looking skin.” I hoped it would help with the skin dullness I get from being stressed and note getting enough sleep.

After washing with a low pH cleanser, I applied the mask all over my face. The scent reminded me of Veet hair removal cream, but lighter and more pleasant smelling. It had a thick, kind of grainy texture that made it a bit difficult to spread. Once applied, it had an obvious white cast on my skin (probably because of the titanium dioxide content), but I don’t think this is an issue since it’s meant for night application anyway.

Morning after using the Icy Mask

I first tried it alone, without adding any other products to my routine, to see if it would really live up to its claims. When I woke up the next morning and washed my face with water, I noticed that my skin did look a bit brighter! There’s a nice, healthy glow that makes me look fresh and well-rested. I’m guessing that this is due to the niacinamide, snail secretion filtrate, and centella asiatica in its formulation. I also tried applying a moisturizing toner before the mask and got the same good results, so I would happily recommend this as a good overnight product that can help dull skin.

I next tried the SNAILWHITE CC Sunscreen SPF50/PA+++ (P995 for 50ml). “CC” stands for “Color Control” so there isn’t much of a tint or coverage in this product. It cancels out some of my skin discoloration though, and it’s enough for me to wear on its own on good skin days. It can of course be used with other base products - just apply it beforehand during the sunscreen step.

I love this product because it makes my skin look really nice and glowy. When worn by itself, it gives my skin a dewy finish that looks good for a “glass skin” look. It also has a mild, powdery scent that I find pleasant, but I do find it quite pricey at almost P20/ml of a product.

The Icy Mask and the CC Sunscreen SPF 50-PA+++ are my first time to try anything from SNAILWHITE, and I’m quite happy with how they performed. Despite the brand name, I didn’t experience any whitening effect but I liked how both products gave my skin a bright, healthy glow. SNAILWHITE is available at leading Watsons and SM Store outlets, and online on BeautyMNL, Zalora, and Lazada.

Have you tried any SNAILWHITE? How was your experience?
