Too Cool For School Pearl Bay Invasion in Baby Clam Pink

The Too Cool For School Pearl Bay Invasion in Baby Clam Pink (~P800) is a beautiful golden-salmon illuminator that can make your skin glow without the tacky shimmer. It has a thin texture that adheres to the skin well, and an almost translucent finish.

The TCFS Pearl Bay Invasion is incredibly subtle. A lot of girls avoid illuminators because they don't want to shine like a sequined jacket under a spotlight - that's understandable! - but this one is quite hard to overdo. The coverage of the cream is very sheer and it's easy to blend out with your preferred buffing brush or just fingers.

I recommend three ways to use it!

  • As an illuminating makeup base. If you want that glow-from-within skin, use a small amount all over your face, under your makeup. Let it dry, then add your foundation/concealer as usual. It's best under liquid or cream foundation to achieve that skin-like finish!

  • As a liquid foundation thinner and dewy-fier. Heavy coverage, matte foundations usually have a thick feel to them. They are awesome to use during events or shoots but they are rarely comfortable nor required on a normal day. If you want to thin down and add a glowy finish to your liquid foundation, you can mix this TCFS illuminator. A 1:1:1 (illuminator: foundation: moisturizer) ratio can get you a CC cream-like finish while a 1:3 (illuminator: foundation) ratio can give you a more natural, dewy finish.

  • As a highlighter. Simply apply a small amount of the Pearl Bay Invasion on the high points of your face (cheekbones, brow bone, ridge of the nose, philtrum, chin, and/or middle of forehead), blend, and then set with powder. This can be done before or after your foundation.

Using Pearl Bay Invasion as a highlighter here!

It removed the matte-ness of my makeup and just made my complexion a weeee bit brighter

I don't have the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (a fave of Lisa Eldridge), but I had a chance to swatch it before. The TCFS Pearl Bay Invasion is similar because it has the same sheerness and subtleness as the Becca one, but Becca feels like it's going to stay on the skin longer. TCFS is more emollient than Becca if I remember correctly.

I remember reading that this packaging won a design award!

Overall, I highly recommend the Too Cool For School Pearl Bay Invasion in Baby Clam Pink if you're looking for a fresh glow that doesn't look fake. ;) There's another shade available, a shimmery white called Mother of Pearl, but Baby Clam Pink is recommended for medium to dark skin. It brings out our warm tones!

I prefer to use it as a highlighter since I have quite a lot of dewy foundations and bases already. But it is awesome that it can be used several ways, if I wanted to. This is a pretty cool find!

What do you think? Does this look like something you need in your life?
