Get used to wearing loud lipstick in five steps

"I don't have the skin tone for it!", "My lips are too big!", "I'm shy, and "My boyfriend doesn't want me to" are some of the reasons girls are scared of wearing colorful and loud lipstick. Well I don't want to force you if you really can't but if you've always wanted to BUT blah blah blah then girl, maybe you're afraid of something more than just eye-catching lips. Maybe you don't feel too confident about your own beauty, which is why you don't want to draw attention to it.

That's just wild conjecture, of course. I'm just basing it on the comments I've received in all my lipstick posts. :) Anyway, today I'll teach you how to get used to wearing loud lipstick. The trick is in realizing that you're the only one holding yourself back - not your judgmental friends or boyfriend, not your perceived lack of good looks. I think we're all beautiful and a hot pink or red lipstick is just the perfect punctuation mark!

Step 1: Invest in a classic and universal color. MAC has great lipstick shades that have stood the test of time. One is Russian Red, a bold luscious color that flatters any skin tone. If you like pink, Pink Noveau is also a popular choice.

If you're on a budget, go for Avon lipsticks. They make great ones, plus they're user-friendly to boot (creamier than MAC). I would recommend Carmen Red (warm red) and Island Glow (creamy pink peach). Revlon also has fab lipsticks - Siren (orange), Fire & Ice (true red), and Coral Berry (pink coral)

Step 2: Start small. The cool thing about loud, i.e., pigmented lipsticks is that they leave a beautiful stain. Start staining your lips first with your desired color and increase intensity as you go along. This will allow you to see how beautiful the color can look on you.

To stain your lips, dot a bit of color all over your lips then slather on some lip balm. Even the whole thing out with your finger.

Step 3: Wear your color everyday at home. Doesn't matter if you're just staying home and doing the dishes - find glamour in the mundane with your punch of color on! You'll find yourself smiling when you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror. See, you look good.

Step 4: Tweet, Facebook, or Instagram a photo of yourself wearing the lipstick. Watch the likes and "love its" roll in. I have never received negative feedback when wearing loud lipstick, in fact, it's the opposite! People always notice and compliment me whenever I have loud lip on. If I can pull it off then you most certainly can.

To give people some context, say something like "Getting the courage to wear red/ pink lipstick! I love (the shade you're wearing)!"

Step 5: Go out and show off. See heads turn and get your friends asking "What lipstick are you wearing?" A new extraordinary lip color is much like a new hair cut: people are fascinated by the newness of it all and want to know everything about it. Just enjoy the attention and feel the newfound self-confidence coursing through your veins.

Everyone in red...because we can! And we all look good in it! We're all wearing one shade here - Cover Girl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Hot.

But what if my boyfriend forbids me to wear loud lipstick?

Dear, I'm with a guy who can't stand intense lipsticks. Know what I do? I don't wear them if I'm going out with him. I would hate for him to feel uncomfortable and wearing a less intense lipstick is a small price to pay. It's called compromise; it makes for a healthy relationship.

But if I'm going to a party or with other people, then I'll wear a loud lipstick whenever I please. It's not like my whole life revolves around him! Neither should yours. ;)

And that's it! I hope this helped. Do share if you have more tips! How did you get used to wearing loud colors?
