Drugstore Find: Why the Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion is the best hand cream ever

The older I get, the drier my skin becomes. Is this also true for you? I’m only 33, which to my mind is really not that old in this modern age of medical wonders, but I feel like my skin is not bouncing back as much as it used to. Damage takes longer to heal; gentle neglect shows more easily than before. I’ve been using heavier moisturizers on my face and so I thought it’s time to apply the same principle to my hands!

I blame the pandemic stress, constant hand washing, and rubbing alcohol application for my dry hands. The other day, I took a photo of something I’m holding and it revealed just how badly I’ve treated my hands in the last two years! I loved the Lush Dream Cream, but I think I need something more heavy duty this time around.

Enter the Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion (P199 for 71ml at Zalora). This has been such a skin savior for me lately because of its thick, moisturizing texture - almost balm-like - that soothes any irritation and fixes the papery texture of my hands. It will make my phone a bit greasy though so I usually apply this right before I sleep. For an extra boost, I use a face serum first (whatever is on hand) then seal it with the Aveeno cream. I wake up with smoother hands the next day!

I highly recommend this especially for sensitive skin. The ingredients list is pretty clean as it doesn’t have any superfluous potential irritants. It also features colloidal oatmeal, which is useful for soothing irritation. I read that those with eczema especially like it for this feature. I sometimes get flare ups too but I haven’t had any yet while using this hand cream.

Overall, this is a great drugstore find that will be staying by my vanity table. Let me know if you’ve tried this! How are your hands lately?
