The trick for close-up worthy photos: Make Up For Ever's new HD additions

Earlier this May, Make Up For Ever Philippines released two new additions to their Ultra HD line: the Ultra HD Skin Perfector (P2,300) and the Ultra HD Soft Light (P1,990). The Ultra HD line is well-known among professionals as being one of the most camera-friendly foundations in the market. Formulated to look photogenic at 4k resolution (standard HD being only 1280p), the Ultra HD lets you #beYOUunfiltered whether going bold or bare.

The current UHD foundations are the liquid Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation and the cream stick Ultra HD Stick Foundation. This line is boosted by other base-perfecting items such as the Ultra HD Skin Booster, Ultra HD Concealer, Ultra HD Pressed Powder, and Ultra HD Loose Powder – all designed to to blur imperfections while giving you the softest and most skin-like glow.

The UHD Skin Perfector is a new foundation. It is lightweight and more of a ‘tint’ than the Invisible Cover’s full foundation power. It's available locally in four shades: 1, 3, 4 and 8, with 1 as a pretty fair, warm-toned shade, while 3 and 4 are very close mediums (with 4 being slightly cooler). 8 is a pretty tan shade. This might feel a little limited, but given the sheer coverage, it can still be usable across a lot of skin tones. The finish is absolutely crazy, and my flaky, textured skin approves! It looks so much smoother in person and especially in photos.

While the Skin Perfector covers up textural issues, it does lack a little in terms of color issues – it is, after all, a tint. You would definitely need to address discoloration through color correction first. Think of the Perfector as a perfecting veil: it provides great, skin-like texture, but in consequence, avoids that opaque, mask-like pigmentation, so you would need to account for that when working with this foundation.

Meanwhile, the UHD Soft Light comes in two shades: Gold Champagne and Pink Champagne. Both colors are really subtle. Gold Champagne is a warmer highlight, while Pink Champagne is a cooler highlight. They don’t really paint on pink nor gold but are more about adding that nuanced, elegant shine that plays with studio lighting so well. The shimmer particles are less glitter and more pearl. You can apply it thinly for a subtle glow, or pack it on for a more strobe effect - which I’m wearing below.

Here is my bold look featuring the UHD Skin Perfector in 3 and the UHD Soft Light in Pink Champagne taken by a professional photographer. I have had such bad skin lately. So many small bumps have popped out making me look crusty AF. I’m pretty glad these two products helped me cheat that smoother look, even in HD photography!

Make Up For Ever is available in SM Megamall, Greenbelt 3, Trinoma, and SM Mall of Asia.
