April Faves: Lightweight Skincare Finds That Defy The Heat

Let's say this all together: April is unbearably hot. I've had to switch out some products in my routine in favor of those with even thinner textures! My fave skincare are already pretty lightweight but they still end up feeling uncomfortable whenever I'm outdoors for too long.

So, I have been trying out a few new things in the last several weeks. Here's what's been working for my face and body!

Dickinson's Witch Hazel Toner. This is a cult fave, a product I've been reading about for years now. I've never felt particularly compelled to try it before since I'm a fan of Burt's Bees toners but when I did - wow. Now I get it. This toner doesn't sting, it clears out oil, and it preps skin nicely for the rest of your routine. It's good! And inexpensive, too. It's only P75 for 59 ml.

I mean come on.

Benefit the Porefessional Matte Rescue Balm. I will do a full review of this soon, but first impressions: to me it feels like a gel moisturizer-slash-primer. This has a cooling sensation because of the alcohol content. And also because of that alcohol, it dries up the skin a bit and helps create that matte finish.

This actually mattifies any foundation you apply on top. It's like magic!

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Waterlight Lotion SPF50 PA+++. This is another product I've been hearing raves about since forever. It's a water-based sunscreen for the face that leaves no white cast and feels like nothing on. I like it! It's a great alternative for Biore if that gel formula didn't work out for you.

Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution. I raved about this before and yes, it still remains as one of the most effective blemish-clearing serum I've tried to date. I finished a bottle but I've kinda forgotten about it because there are just so many new things to explore. But! The other day I opened an ol' big box and found a brand new bottle of this serum. I'm using it again to deal with some new spots that cropped up!

Impress by Kanebo Lotion II. This is pricey AF but it's so potent. It's a softener - that Japanese hybrid of toner and moisturizer - that my skin just drinks up. I feel my face is smoother after just a few uses. It better be as one bottle costs P6,000! I love using Lotion II in the morning, just before my sunscreen. It doesn't add any feeling of thickness to my layers of skincare and makeup.

Mario Badescu Summer Shine Body Lotion. This smells like vanilla and it makes my skin ~sparkle~. It's also pretty light! It's especially nice to use on the legs and décolletage. This is not an everyday lotion as it has some serious shimmer but it's a great addition to a date look. ;)

So there you go folks! How's your weekend like?
