Don’t you just wish you could go to the salon to have great hair everyday? Well, achieving salon-ready hair at home is easier than you think. We asked Francis Guintu of Culture Salon Manila in BGC for some tips on how to achieve salon-looking hair in your own home without your favorite hairstylist’s help!

Pick the best shampoo for your hair types

If you have oily hair, Francis advises a good clarifying shampoo to remove oil and product buildup. For limp hair, go for a shampoo that doesn’t weigh the hair down and gives volume. For dry hair, he recommends a moisturizing shampoo. Pantene Total Damage Care Shampoo gives the moisture your hair needs with Rice Oil Essence. It also strengthens hair inside and out to prevent hair damage so you can grow your hair to any length you want. Francis also reminded us that shampoo should only be used on the scalp to mid length to remove oil and build up.

Moisturize with the right kind of conditioner

Most especially if your hair is dry, coloured or chemically treated (which demand more care to prevent damage), it’s important to choose a powerful conditioner that moisturizes, tames frizzy baby hair (also known as tutchang), repairs damage and adds shine. Pantene Collagen Miracle Intensive Serum Conditioner (P299 for 300 ml) is made from real collagen, a potent hair moisturizer that does all of these things, so you can achieve hair that looks and feels healthy and smooth. Francis reminds us to condition from mid lengths to ends, because that is where most of the damage is.

Add a treatment serum for extra power

A treatment serum like Pantene Collagen Miracle Treatment Shots (P49/12 ml) will give you the power you need to up the level of smoothness and shine of your hair, not to mention give it added protection. Apply it after rinsing conditioner. Francis recommends using it only from the mid length to ends if you have oily hair while those with dry or chemically treated hair can apply it all throughout. He recommends doing it even just once a week, but those with chemically treated hair should do this two to three times a week.

Use your hair tools for vavavoom hair but always make sure to protect hair from damage

You don’t have to be a pro to get great results with hair tools. If your hair is naturally straight but limp, towel dry your hair to about 50% dry, add a volumizing product and grab a hair dryer. Francis shared a great tip that anyone can do: dry your hair in the opposite direction in which your hair grows. For example, comb the left side of your hair all the way to the right, the front part combed to the back, the back part combed to the front, and so on. Francis says, “This gives great lift and might just surprise you how much volume you can get!”

If your hair is naturally straight, brush your hair out and air dry naturally. Francis advises to “take a flat iron, and run it down the mid lengths down, and bend iron inwards- It’s a great style with minimal styling effort!” Always remember, though, that styling tools that involve heat can also be a cause of hair damage, so make sure to protect your hair with a leave-on serum like the Pantene Miracles Leave On Treatment Dual Chamber Oil Serum. It contains two separate chambers of oil and milk for maximum hair protection from heat styling and UV rays.

Score some waves with bobby pins

If you prefer not to use heated tools, you can still add some waves in your hair. Just towel dry, brush your hair out and pull your hair into a bun. Twist it securely and then tuck the ends with some bobby pins. Wait for it to dry, remove the pins, shake it out and voila! An instant hairstyle.

With these tips in mind, you can now have smooth, frizz-free hair that looks like you just stepped out of the salon. Pantene’s new Collagen Miracle line is just what you need to achieve that. Collagen is a potent moisturizer and keeps hair shiny and supple. While other hair conditioners also have collagen, Pantene’s Collagen Miracle line is superior to other collagen conditioners because it uses real collagen, not hydrolyzed collagen (broken down into smaller particles) like other brands. Real collagen has a triple helix structure, which gives an added layer of strength.

The line has two products: The Collagen Miracle Intensive Serum Conditioner (P299 for 300 ml) is a daily yet potent conditioner that will smoothen tutchangs while the Collagen Miracle Treatment Shots (P49/12 ml) are concentrated doses for a DIY hairspa at home. This powerful combination will help keep your hair tutchang-free and salon-worthy smooth. Francis says that the hair remembers the shape it’s in when it’s dry, so keep your hair in great shape with Pantene Collagen Miracle line!

Pantene Collagen Miracle is available in leading supermarkets and department stores. It is also available online in Shopee and Lazada.
