Is Getting Red Light Therapy For Your Hair Worth It?

Did you know that stress can cause hair loss? YES. Can red light therapy help? Also YES. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, “…clinical studies have revealed that hair growth is stimulated by 650-nm red light.”  I’ve personally tried red light therapy for the skin, but I have never tried it on my scalp! I’ve been seeing this all over my FYP on TikTok lately and was excited to see that this service is available at Marqed Salon located at Sapphire Residences, BGC. I was able to avail of their services via Parlon.ph, which as you guys know is the best place to score deals on beauty services. Let me walk you through the steps when you avail of this intriguing hair treatment!

I arrived with non-shampooed hair as I have taken a shower the night prior. The service that Marqed offers includes deep cleansing for the head and scalp + the red light therapy. We started off by examining the state of my scalp with this device that allows us to see the magnified view via a wand:

Upon checking, Mark Rosales of Marqed Salon found that my hair is oily; there is also some irritation on the skin (allergic reaction to my current shampoo could be the culprit) hence the dryness on the scalp which can cause dandruff.

After the assessment, I was taken to the shampoo bar for the initial wash. The clear spa foam application was next (this took 15 minutes). They applied the foam thoroughly on the roots and scalp and gave me an amazing head massage. The goal of this step was to get rid of the oiliness in my hair and the minty-after feel of the foam definitely helped rejuvenate my scalp!

After rinsing the foam off, they dried my hair completely before finishing off with the red light therapy. They applied this hood-like material over my head, made me wear protective glasses, and enjoyed the red light therapy for 15-20minutes while getting a back massage. You will feel a warm sensation around your head which will totally kick your relaxation up a notch.

After the deep cleansing and the red light therapy, the softness and shine in my hair was so apparent, as opposed to all the dullness when I first came in. My hair was brought back to life! I am definitely going back for more red light therapy sessions. Haircare is more than just regular trims and daily shampooing and conditioning; it might be worth adding red light therapy to your routine to stimulate hair growth as well.

Mark proceeded to style my hair before I left the salon. I definitely enjoyed this session at Marqed Salon in BGC! Get this deal for P1,800 instead of P3,300 at Parlon so you get P1,500 off. They also have four sessions available for just P5,000 if you get the package.
