Sleep On It: My Review of Laneige's Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask

We have fully transitioned into summer and this weather is making my skin feel drier than usual. My first instinct is to go for a heavier moisturizer but the heat and humidity both say otherwise! A good alternative to remember are sleeping masks that we can use at night – these give an immediate moisture boost plus other skin benefits, and lucky for us, Laneige Philippines has recently launched a new one. With a campaign to #StayBouncy&Firm, the new Laneige Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask stars popular actress Sydney Sweeney as the global brand ambassador and it may just be what my skin currently needs.

The Laneige Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask comes in two sizes: P970 for 25ml and P1,950 for 60ml. It’s a leave-on mask designed to be applied right before bed—thus the name, sleeping mask. You might notice results even after just one night, but for optimal benefits, it's best used twice a week or even daily. Typically, it should be the final step in your skincare routine, applied over your moisturizer. However, if you have oily skin or are dealing with humid weather, you might prefer to use it instead of your regular moisturizer. Plus, you can give yourself a little massage as you apply it for a mini self-care session.

The mask has a noticeable floral scent, which I personally adore in my skincare products. Laneige refers to this as their Sleepscent™ fragrance, which you might recognize from their popular Water Sleeping Mask, though it’s notably absent in their Cica Sleeping Mask. According to their research, this scent is crafted to help promote a good night’s sleep. The mask's texture is like a peach pink sorbet—light and easy to glide onto the skin. Plus, the visible beads in the formula melt as you rub them into your skin, enhancing the sensory experience.

The small beads in the mask are what Laneige calls Hydro-Melt Glow Capsules, designed to help retain moisture in your skin overnight. It’s important to store the container away from direct sunlight. Laneige has included a precautionary notice indicating that sometimes the capsules may not melt properly if not stored correctly, but this doesn’t affect the product's quality. Just be sure to apply a sufficient amount and massage it into your skin for full absorption. From my experience, using it almost three weeks now, I haven’t encountered any issues with the capsules not melting.

Other standout ingredients in the Laneige Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask include the Peony & Collagen Complex and Peptides. These are aimed at boosting collagen production, aligning with Laneige's promise of bouncy and firm skin. In tests conducted in 2023, 100% of participants reported that their skin felt "visibly plumped with hydration" and appeared "visibly smoother."

I can personally vouch for these effects, as I wake up looking well-rested the morning after using the mask, even if I've stayed up late watching my latest K-drama obsession! I’ve also experimented with layering it alongside other Laneige products as well as with products from different skincare brands, and it consistently performs well either way. However, as with any skincare product, I recommend doing a patch test first to see how your skin reacts.

The Laneige Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask joins Laneige’s line of best-selling sleeping masks, Laneige Water Sleeping Mask and Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask. It is now available online at the official Laneige stores in Lazada and Shopee, as well as retail stores in malls.
